Where do you buy your work clothes?

I work in a professional environment, and need some suggestions. I've typically bought my clothes at a combination of Ann Taylor Loft, Banana Republic, Express, and the Limited, but I'm not having any luck finding stuff that I like, and can't really think of anywhere else.

I don't mind spending on clothes that are classic and will last a while, but prefer them to be somewhat interchangeable and easy care. Right before heading back to work, I refreshed my wardrobe with a ton of shirts from Loft, only to have my husband wash them and shrink EVERYTHING..  I replaced everything, then I washed them, and still managed to shrink EVERYTHING. I've got some serious shopping to do, and any suggestions will help.

I stopped shopping at Loft because the quality seems to have gone way downhill.  I still shop at Ann Taylor and that stuff seems to be better.  Other than that I pretty much stick to Macy's and Nordstrom (also Nordstrom Rack).  Occasionally I'll find something at Banana or Gap but not very often.

I always find great deals on name brand suits and pant suits by Kasper and Evan Picone (and others) at Burlington Coat Factory.

  • I love New York and Company and that is one of the only companies I sign up for their emails, since they email great deals like 100 dollars off 200! It is amazing, and always have cute, fun business wear.
  • NY & Co. The rest is a mish mash from random places.
  • I'm pretty short so I have some trouble. My clothes are mostly from White House Black Market, Ann Taylor (I also have a lot of loft stuff but have stopped shopping there b/c I think the quality has gone downhill), and Nordstrom Rack.

However, I really can't say enough good things about my recent experience w/ Nordstrom's personal stylist program, I talked about it in this post. If you have a Nordstrom near you, I would recommend checking it out.

  • I used to shop at NY & CO when they still fit- my boobs don't fit into their shirts after LO...... i have had some great luck at  Ann Taylor, there is a store in the shopping plaza near work and i've found a few collared shirts on the 80% rack for about 15-20 dollars each. I have luck at JC penny's over macy's because they seem to have clothes that fit me better for my larger chest. I don't have any higher end department stores near me. I like the gap, their jeans pants fit me really well. Sometimes I have luck Target.
  • Boden, J Crew, and Eddie Bauer.

I used to buy a lot from J Jill and Territory Ahead, but I never like their stuff these days.

  • I love New York & Co.  Especially because the carry petite, regular, and tall sizes.  The often have great sales too.

  • I have had so many bad experiences with Loft, I refuse to shop there anymore.

Been pregnant too long to remember where I usually shop for clothes, but just wanted to say that I share your Loft frustration.

  • Do you have a Talbots?  They have some "old lady" stuff, but for the most part they have a lot of classics...good tops, cardigans, acessories, blazers/jackets, jewelry.  I love their pants..(I am 5'2") they have all their pant offerings in petites. They also have a good color, fabric and style variety in their pants.

Repeats..I also shop at Dilards/Von Maur (dept stores like Macys) and Express, Ny&Co, Ann Taylor, Coldwater Creek, Target, TJ Maxx (sometimes, but I hate digging through all the stuff)
