Success after IF

First Cold

So we think H is experiencing his first cold. I got a sore throat last night and his nose has been runny the last two days, so DH thinks he got it at daycare and I got it from him (just in time for my interview Tuesday, yay).

Has anyone dealt with a really dry mouth when their LO is sick? Sometimes when we're about to feed him, his entire mouth is dry, no saliva whatsoever. Just wondering if that's normal, it always goes back to normal after a feeding but I've never seen it before. Also, is there anything I can do for his poor nose? We're constantly cleaning it out and I noticed a bit ago the skin is getting dry around his nose.

I think it's passing, he's been in much better spirits today. I think the last week of pure fussiness can be blamed partly on this, partly on the wonders of the 4 month wakeful.

Aww, poor little guy. If he doesn't have a fever, there's not much you can do. If he's stuffy, try smaller, more frequent feedings. Make sure he doesn't get dehydrated. FX you both feel better really soon and GL Tuesday!

You can use saline drops for his nose to help suction it out but also to moisturizer it a bit. And you can put petroleum jelly on the raw bits of his nose. I hoe you're both feeling better soon. And that the wakeful period is over soon for you....still going strong here in my house so I feel at least that pain.
  • Oh no! I'm sorry you both are feeling yucky. No advice, but sending you some get well vibes!

Thanks! I'm also noticing his sleep positioning is playing a role as well. He's sleeping great in the bouncy but if I lay him flat in the crib, he stirs after five minutes. I give him the paci back but five minutes later he's stirring again.

That happens with congestion. We put a pillow under te crib mattress to put LO at an angle. And try a humidifier if you have one.
