Breastfeeding

Supply drop

So due to either improper latching or something else I am having to pump to feed 7 day old DS. Started EP yesterday after I talked to a LC on the phone. She suggested I mix a combo of creams to put on my bleeding nips and pump until I could come in on Monday to be seen. Since then I've gone from pumping over 2 ounces every 3 hours to barely 1.5 every 3 hours. I do not want to have to give him formula! I'm drinking water, yogi nursing tea, and eating well. I am using a medela pisa to pump, DS was breastfeeding great but it got to be so painful I was crying when I was nursing. Any advice or suggestions? TIA

I agree with PP, rent the medela symphony.

My husband was a little grumbly about the $90 fee to rent and get the pumping kit when we left hospital (baby came 5 weeks early).  Near the end of that month my husband said "EVERY mom needs one of these!".  He tried to make me rent it for another month...despite having not used it more than 2 weeks of the first month lol.

It really does work wonders.  It cost a lot...but that $90 wouldn't have lasted us long if we had to switch to formula.  Especially now that she is milk protein intolerant and her special prescription formula would run over $500 a month!!
