hopeful intro and a question

Hello!  I am hoping to join this group...missing my period today and not testing until this weekend (not sure how I will keep my nerves under control!).  We are pretty certain, as I have not had my normal pre-period symptoms, but I keep expecting it to be here every time I go to the restroom.  

I have seen the term "IP's" in several posts but did not see it in the acronym list.  What am I missing?

Why are you waiting to test? If you are pregnant, congratulations. 

 I do not know what IP stands for, but I believe is referring to the biological parents in a surrogacy situation from the context.

hmmm... Ya am I missing something?  Why not test?

We would just rather give it a few more days.  We do not want to be unnecessarily disappointed by a false negative if my hcg levels are not high enough yet.  Also, we were having a series of busy mornings and did not want to rush off after testing.  Silly, perhaps, but it is what we decided to do.
