NPR: anyone ever buy anything off of craigslist?

we are moving into a rental and we need a washer and dryer. we really don't want to buy a brand new one since whatever we do ultimately end up buying (housewise) will already have a W and D.?

I looked on craigslist and there are some W and D avail in our area. I've just heard craigslist is creepy. is it?

I haven't but wanted to say that I THOUGHT our new house would have a w/d but the one we ended up getting didn't have one (owner took it with him)!  It was fine since I wanted a new on anyway.  Maybe just get what you want now and either sell the one that comes with the house?

Well, it's really a hard call. This house didn't come with a W/D

I bought my P&T stroller on craigslist, and it wasn't creepy at all. That said, my H went to pick it up. I wouldn't go into a strangers house. And they were in the city, so it was easy to meet up with them at a coffee shop.

I have bought a bunch of stuff.  Mostly outdoor toys that moms were selling.  I think if I was buying a washer/dryer I would send DH to pick it up.  I have had all good Craigslist experiences.

We've bought a lot of stuff off of craigslist.  You just want to be smart about it- ie. don't go to a strange house by yourself & all.  But there's great stuff out there for the taking!

oh god NO--I would never go alone!!! I did emergency psych for far too long to ever do that! LOL!

We've purchased and sold all sorts of things from craigslist with no problem: furniture, baby items, a chicken coop, appliances, toys, you name it! Just use common sense and precautions- you'll be fine!

No but I've been thinking of selling some things.  Our house didn't come with a w/d either...will your new house definitely have one?
