What is yours doing? I'm afraid LO is behind and not sure whether to worry or not. He is our first. I have a call with the pedi next week. He claps, doesn't waive or point. He gives kisses and high 5's, when he wants to. I think he says ball. But that's it really, no mama or dada. A ton of babbling.
Re: 14 month old
It doesn't sound like he is significantly behind to me. DD is almost 15 months and can wave, clap and point, but doesn't have ANY words. She babbles a ton though and understands us when we ask her to get things or talk about bath time and diaper changes.
All babies are different. Try not to worry too much.
Mine walks, says about 7 words but half of them are Martian, she does "itsy bitsy spider, claps, points (when she is angry especially), nods yes or no, does high five, blows kisses, points out belly button on herself and anyone that will allow it.
I really wouldn't worry about it. Chances are the baby is fine and developing at the right speed for your child.
I worry about my LO's development too but I think it all about being good parents.
Thank you so much for posting this! I just started worrying that my DS isn't talking enough. I feel like it may be due to the fact that he isn't in daycare (around many other kids). He gives high 5's and points, but he doesn't clap and he doesn't say many words other than mama, dada, and ball & dog (I think). My best friend's daugter is 2 weeks younger than him and it's so hard for me not to compare the two of them because she says so many things (or so my best friend says). Anyway, I'm glad to see that DS is not the only one who isn't talking much.
