We are 5 months away from LO's first bday. Yes, I'm already thinking about it for two reasons. First, it's in late November and I'm worried about weather because I really want to do it at a park. And second, his birthday is on Thanksgiving and since we will be having his party the weekend after, many people may be out of town, so I'm going to try to give immediate family as much notice as possible.
Anyways, I guess my concern is having it at a park if it rains. We live in a condo that would be way to small for the amount of guests in attendance, and I really cannot think of anywhere else to have it! I should mention we are in Southern California. So it could totally be a beautiful day, we just don't know.
Re: Thinking ahead
This is what we're doing... only ours is an enclosed building at a local park. It's a big relief knowing that I don't have to worry if it decides to rain.
DH's birthday is Nov. 23rd, so I completely understand what's going on with you. He's had issues with celebrating his birthday since he was a child since people usually have plans around/after Thanksgiving.
Weather is hit or miss, but I feel like for the past few years it's been gorgeous around Thanksgiving. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Otherwise, I second the idea of a rec center/community center. Depending on where you are in Southern CA there are always museums/play spaces that might work also.
