Re: 2nd Tri Check IN

  • Not much new here, trying to decide when to ditch work, OB and PCP want me out now, DH doesn't care when and I was thinking August 16 a day before I go on vacation. I am exhausted after work and my back hurts.

Q: Sleep Sack, the thought of being swaddled is unpleasant to me and I have read several articles about it causing hip dysplasia. Also I am spacially impaired and figuring out the correct way to fold the blankets is horrendous.

  • No big news here either!  The heat is starting to get to me, and I have a lot less energy than usual, but I'm doing well for the most part.  On Friday we have our fetal echo, and then on Monday we have our 24 week appt.  Can't believe it's already here!  I am feeling kicks regularly throughout the day now, which is awesome - it took until just this week for me to feel them during the day too!

I plan to swaddle for the first 6 weeks or so, then probably transition to sleep sack.

Me: 35, DH: 34, Started TTC #1 since November '11
Several Clomid/Femara rounds, then fresh IVF September '12
Fresh IVF #1: chemical pregnancy, FET #1: ectopic, methotrexate
FET #2 resulted in our amazing baby boy Levi, born on 11/3/13 at 8 lbs, 5 oz. He is our everything!

  • Our big news is that we found out we're having 2 GIRLS at our anatomy scan. Then a week later we saw our OB and he confirmed it, but never even acknowledged that he said B/G for several appointments in a row! I'm still out of work because OB isn't comfortable sending me back just yet, but I'd like to go back considering my cervical shortening has resolved (as of now.)

QOTW: Sleep sack. I've heard babies are little Houdinis and can get out of even the best swaddle!

TTC #1 since 01/2011 Me: MTHFR C677t homozygous (on lovenox) DH: MFI (poor morph, counts, motility) Natural BFP #1: 05/2011, M/C @ 5 weeks RE consult 12/2011: 3 failed IUIs (01/2012-07/2012) 02/2013: IVF#1 23follies/19mature/9fert with ICSI/2 A grade embies trans day5/4 B grade embies frozen. • Hi ladies!

Not much new to report, regular appt tomorrow and then a/s on the 23rd. I'll be nervous as we get closer to that because it will be our first ultrasound!

I still haven't felt any flutters or anything yet, last time I started feeling them intermittently around 16w so I hope soon, but then, OB thinks I might have an anterior placenta which would be a major bummer. We won't know for sure until the a/s.

QOTW: We planned to do the swaddle-me things (with the velcro) when he's very little, then switch to sleepsack after that. Of course at some point, we'll probably do whatever has to be done to get him to sleep.

  • We had our first monitoring appointment for twin to twin transfusion syndrome last week, and thankfully both babies and fluid levels are measuring very similar in size. I did have some painful stomach muscle cramps and muscle tightening over the weekend, so went back to the doctor yesterday. My cervix went from a 4 to a 3.45 but the doctor didn't seem concerned. I'm a little worried though. Any opinions from those of you with shortening cervix issues?

I see my MFM next Friday for more monitoring and the anatomy scan. I'll be 18 weeks next week.

Man, as for the QOTW, yet again, I have no idea. Maybe just try swaddling before spending more money on gear that I may not need?

  • Nothing much to report this week! I have my appt, follow up ultrasound and glucose test next Tuesday. I'm excited to see little girl again. I feel her quite a bit now, which is such an awesome feeling. Felt her from the outside last night for the first time and can't wait until DH can too!

QOTW: Well probably start with swaddling and then go to sleep sacks. I figure whatever we find works better is what well go with.
  • So, I am feeling pretty good. I have been feeling tired, but excited about some of the baby projects I am getting done.  Everything is on halt till after the holiday weekend.  In exciting news my 2 sisters and one boyfriends are coming on the 20th to help paint stuff!!  Nursery walls, kid chairs, twin bed for DS#1, chest of drawers, picture frames better watch OUT!!

  • good morning ladies,

I had an OB appt yesterday to check out my varicose veins and also for a bit of nausea. My OB also wrote me a script for prilosec to see if that helps with the heart burn. He also has finally given me the okay to go swimming but I must wear a life jacket. We get to see our boys today at our A/S and then we have our next OB appt July 16th.

  • Hi ladies!  I've had an eventful week as those on FB know.  We ended up in labor and delivery on Monday for monitoring because I was bleeding and cramping.  We also discovered that my cervix went from a 3.9 to a 2.5.  I was released after about 3 hours of monitoring with no contractions (thank God) and sent home with the label high risk and a script for progesterone supps again.  [sarcastic] YAY!  Max is perfect though and there was no active bleed near him.  They are pretty sure that my blood clot that was between cervix & membranes finally released. The back cramping is what they were worried about. I'm on once a week appointments for the time being, going back on Tuesday.

We did get to tour the new birthing center & post rooms while we were there and it's nice!  They actually have a bed for the spouse!  DH was happy to see that! HA!

QOTW- I've registered for both because I have no idea what he'll like.  Walking in blind on that one. :)

  • Good morning ladies!

Still dealing with the awful carpel tunnel.  My hands are pretty much numb/sore 24/7, and my OB was able to get me in to the orthopedic this week (Friday).  It helps when you have a Dr call a Dr personally otherwise they couldn't see me til the 17th. This morning when I woke up it took me an hour to finally be able to close my hand and make a fist.  DH begged me to take a sick day, but what was that going to do? This isn't going away til Oct. I need to save my days for Maternity leave.

QOTW: I'm planning to swaddle, but who knows lol  All of this is new to me :)

    My Wonder Woman!

  • Hello!  Please add me!  So excited to be in the 2nd tri!  My edd is 12/27 and we are having twins!  I just got the results from our maternit21 test and everything came back negative, so yay!  It also picked up the y chromosome, so we officially know that at least one of these babies is a boy.  They had already taken a guess that they are both boys, so we will see!

QOTW:  I swaddled my ds and he loved it, but I'm not sure if they had the sleep sack out yet.  My bff used the sleep slack for her baby for the entire first year.  It was the ONLY way she could get her to sleep, so I am up for trying both!  Whatever works!

TTC #3 (#1 for DH) since September 2011. DX: Unexplained infertility with possible cervical factor. May 2012 did clomid with IUI - BFN August 2012 IUI #2 w/ follistim/letrozole - BFN September 2012 IUI #3 w/ follistim/letrozole - BFN October 2012 IUI #4 w/ follistim/letrozole - BFN November/December 2012 IVF/ICSI #1 Retrieved 12 eggs, 8 fertilized. This check-in always makes me so happy.  It's great to be reminded that we're all here, and it's real, and amazingly fortunate.

Not too much new here.  Baby boy seems like he's doing well, moving around more.  Next appointment is 7/9.  DH painted the nursery last weekend, and I started a mural last night.  Super excited to start decorating.  I think I may have finished our registry, so that's one more thing to check off!

QOTW: Registered for both and will do whatever it takes for sleep to happen.  I'm thinking swaddle early on, then graduate to the sleep sack.  But then it's really not up to me.  We'll do whatever works for him.

I've had a shortened cervix with twins. Mine went as low as 2.9-3.0 cm and the doc put me on modified bedrest at that point. I'd say 3.45 is probably great. I have also been on vaginal progesterone which combined with my decreased activity brought me back up to 3.5cm to even 4.0cm! It's possible to have a dynamic cervix, just be careful and make sure they are monitoring you often. GL!
