Smiling

Hello, all!

Jake has just recently started smiling on a regular basis. Sometimes just seeing me or DH makes him grin big and gummy, but he does it most often when we do bicycle motions with his legs. I tell you, I am addicted to his smile. Just seeing one smile makes a terrible day just melt away and nothing else matters.

What makes your LO smile?

Re: Smiling

  • Three times come to mind:

    1. First thing in the morning when we unswaddle them. They give big stretches and big grins.

    2. We have colorful flower decals on the wall above the girls' changing table. One of them thinks these are the best thing since sliced bread and will smile this HUGE smile at them every single time we change her. It is absolutely the most adorable thing ever.

    3. Both girls also smile ear to ear when Bruno Mars is playing and I'm acting a fool dancing and singing along. :

These are great things to think of while I'm at work! Thanks!

  • 1) wake up time! as soon as she sees me or my husband she starts to grin.

2)Her glo worm. That actually gets a smile AND some giggles. no idea why

3)When we're changing her diaper after she's woken up and either my husband or I will do something silly at her. Usually gets smiles and giggles

4)When I sit her on my stomach while Im laying down, and gentle pull her back and forth singing "Row, Row, Row your boat". She lights up and giggles a little.

Come to think about it she's giggle CONSTANTLY now. Not sure what's so funny, but I'll take it over fussing. She's also yelling all the time "AHH. AHHHHHH. AHHHHH" but not crying.

  • So many things make him smile these days! These are the major consistent things:

    1. When me or my hubs walk into a room and say hi to him.

    2. Seeing himself or one of us in a mirror. Mirrors make him laugh too.

    3. Me dancing. Yep, it is pretty funny to everyone I think.

    4. Being "tossed" up in the air. We don't really even let go of him, but it gives him that weightless feel for a second. Guaranteed big laughs.

    5. Weird noises that Hubs and I make.

So much different than even just a month ago! He is such a happy little boy (when he isn't tired and we are trying to get him to sleep).

  • Without fail, when my husband reminds him that he has "feet! feet! feet feet feet!" It's a silly song he made up to teach LO body parts. He also smiles like crazy when he wakes up in the morning.

When did you LO start laughing? Our guy is coming up on 4 months and has only almost laughed twice. Sometimes it looks like a silent laugh, but no overt giggling yet.

  • I'd say since last week she started actually doing like a giggle or laugh. So around 15 weeks for us

Early morning. I am so not a morning person so she gets it fro her daddy. Just looking at her sends her into a smiling, giggling fit.

I now feed her at 6:30 then send her down for breakfast (she sits in highchair and watches daddy eat) once he's done he brings her back to me and we sleep more.  She'd go back to sleep right after the feed if I keep but she is SOOOOOO happy I want her to have a bit of time with daddy before he goes to work.

While lots of things make her smile, noises, actions, songs etc the biggest thing is for daddy or me to look at her.

She's been smiling since 8weeks to the day and laughing since about 2 weeks after that.  It started by her smiling so big she would let out a little squeaky giggle...and it's just lengthened to full giggles since then.

The biggest giggle maker for her is when she is playing alone on her play mat hitting her hanging toys.  You can hear her laughing through the house.

  • Mt favorites are first thing in the morning as I unswaddle her and when I pick her up from daycare!!
