Forgive me if this discussion has already been had, I only get on here about once a week since I babysit full time. 3 little girls under 2 is enough to keep anyone off the internet! Anywho.....which mommas are planning to use a midwife? Home birth or birthing center? Water birth or no? VBAC? Tell me all about it!

Well, obviously, I am. This is going to be a VBAC for me. I used a midwife last time but a few complications sent me to the hospital. Water birth at home. I'm excited to be able to try again. I'm using a different midwife than last time, I really really like this one!

  • We will be using a midwife but still want a hospital birth with the epidural.
  • I have a team of two midwives. Appointments alternate between the two of them so that I know and am comfortable with whoever is on-call when I go into labor. They deliver at my neighborhood hospital and have an OB backup in case. They don't allow water births at the hospital, which is what I would prefer but they do have a tub you can labor in. Its a good medium for me between hospitals and midwives.
  • We're using a midwife. I was with an ob with ds but I hated it. I went to the hospital twice before they kept me and saw a different doctor each time and none were my ob. It's a frustrating system. I felt if I had a midwife it would have been a better overall experience.

I still plan to deliver at the hospital but like the fact that my midwife or her backup will be the ones who have journeyed with me all along and will be there in the end. It's much more comfortable I think. Plus I know I won't have to wait for three hours for appointments! That happened too often last time with my ob.

  • I am aiming for another birth center birth with midwives .  This will be my 3rd attempt at a waterbirth even though DS and DD both ended up being land babies for various reasons.  If this little one is breech I will try and get a back up homebirth midwife like I did with DD.

  • I am having our second child, and we will be having a midwife assisted home water birth. We are beyond excited for a calm and positive birthing experience, far far away from the infamous mean nurses at our local hospital. We will be doing Bradley classes and Hypnobirthing, so see what I turn to most during labor
  • I am using a midwife (CNM) and having a hospital birth. Did that last time and enjoyed my experience.

  • This is my first pregnancy and we've chosen to go to a birthing center with a team of three midwives. I'll have the option of a water birth if I want it, but an waiting to see how things go.. : I'm so excited to not have to go to a hospital and really looking forward to the whole experience.
  • Midwife and homebirth if all goes well. We planned a home waterbirth last time and ended up at the hospital which wasn't bad at all. This time I would like to stick it out at home but it will not be the end of the world if we end up in hospital again.

  • Hi! I'm in the same situation! Know we will be moving soon although everything is up in the air! Telling baby that she's so welcome and staying positive want to root down and start meeting midwives! I'm 11 weeks and feeling great! I also am trying to figure out best insurance option for us since we don't use allopathic medicine frequently, won't be doing vaccinations, and are hoping for home birth ... I'm open to all that birth can be this is my first and know that things can change but I see insurance as an unnecessary expense right now any thoughts? I know it will all work out! Good luck to you in between states mama! Soon you'll be in your new spot and able to root nest! Many blessings to You and little one!
