Once in a while I get a sharp pain or two in my lower abdominal area. No bleeding or spotting and its not a continual cramp. More like a shooting pain. Does this happen to anyone else? I am just over 16 weeks.

Sounds like round ligament pain which is normal.

I agree with this.  Happens to me when I sometimes get up from the couch or bed suddenly...freaks me out for a second, but then it goes away, and no bleeding or anything further to worry me...

Its the pelvic ligaments stretching. Very normal. I would get them so bad that I would do squats to stretch it out more. I even looked like I was doing ballet when it was really bad. My dr told me to take Tylenol if it hurts too much. If you can't breathe when it happens then go to dr's or hospital.
