Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Sleeping in

Dd is 15 months and she usually goes to bed at about 8 pm. Wakes up between 630 to 7am. Today and currently it is 830 and she is still sleeping ! I'm a schedule mommy so I tried waking her around 750 but she was t having it so I left her and she's still asleep. Could it be a growth spurt? Or maybe teething ???

Re: Sleeping in

  • My LO is almost 14 months and some mornings he sleeps until 5:45am and others 7am.  I just let him sleep because I am staying home with his this summer and we typically don't have to be up at a certain time.  I would just enjoy the extra sleep!

  • Let the kid sleep. She's probably just tired.

I rarely see the rush to wake up a toddler. Unless you have to be somewhere, why? Enjoy the quiet time. Kids for the most part are actually quite good at their sleep cycles if you let them work it out.

This. DS is 19 months and his wake ups range from 6:15 to 7:45. I take his late mornings as a blessing and enjoy the extra time in bed. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Maybe she just had a long day yesterday or is catching up on some needed sleep.

  • DD has always been (since six months?) very consistent about waking up around 7am.  Occasionally she sleeps later.  Because she's tired (due to a poor night of sleep, a cold, a growth spurt, whatever).  I let her sleep!
