Success after IF

Talk to me about teething.......

I feel like I'm bombing the boards this week! Sorry about that.....

anywho - DD is 3 months and in the past two weeks, specifically these past few days she's shown a lot of the key teething signs (change in poop, change in sleep, and drool. Tons and tons and tons of drool. Literally it was running down my arm this morning.) I've stuck my hand in there a few times and haven't  felt anything definitive.....a few times I have thought there was something but then the next time it was gone.....she's also nawing on her hands all the time as well as mine.

i know she's early - but anyone have any insight on what I should look for, what I can do to help her etc!?!?

i also know that sometimes babies just have fussy periods which may be the issue here and that there may be no rhyme or reason for it - but I can't help but feel something is off!

Shes currently been asleep in my arms for over a half hour following a half hour car ride because she started screaming out if no where and the car was the only thing to make it stop. Looooong day!

DS did the same thing at about 4 months.  Everyone swore he was going to have teeth extra early, because it can happen.  But a tooth didn't pop through until he was just about 7 months.  Sorry to say, but they can actually teeth for a while!!  Maybe in your case it won't be that bad though.

DS did not like the frozen teething toys but he did chew on a frozen washcloth.  Or his soft bite Nuk spoons.

This exactly. Even the pedi thought DS2 would be an early teether, but we didn't see a thing until 7 mos. It was just a crazy rough patch. We had a few days off before the whole process started again and the second tooth popped up two weeks later.

Around the 2-3 month age, the salivary glands kick in and babies start to drool a ton so it does tend to look like teething. I don't necessarily buy the whole, teething for months thing, I just think it's normal drool but when accompanied with a fussy time/growth spurt, it looks like teething. Of course I could be totally wrong about your LO and a tooth could sprout!

Babies also learn by putting things in their mouths so that could be the reason for the chewing. I know H has been chewing his hands for a couple of weeks now, but really anything in front of him goes in the mouth.

i agree with this. I am a wonder week believer now too so I think that's part of it at this age.

  • M started drooling like crazy since he was 3 months old.  I'm talking a pool of drool around him. He soaks through a bib (and his clothes underneath) in under an hour.  I'm not kidding.  My clothes are always covered in huge wet spots despite the fact that M has a bib on.  I always am so surprised to see other babies (at my mom's group and at play time) show up without a bib.

In any case, M's first teeth (bottom 2) popped through at 5 months, but his drooling has not subsided at all.   His top tooth just popped through last week (he's 7.5 m).  I have a feeling that this boy is just gonna keep drooling until all his teeth are out.
