XP - ? Ref Re-establishing Supply

I posted this on the BF board, but that board is a bit slow so I thought I would ask over here as well

When DS was about one I dropped my pumping sessions at work and now only nurse him in the morning and at night. I will be going on vacation for a week, in two weeks, without him and I want him to be able to have BM while I am gone. If I start up my pumping session/s at work now, will I be able to re-establish enough of a supply to be able to build a small stash for when I am gone?

I'm not sure. Worth a try though. I had a supply drop and it only took about 36h of frequent feelings to bring it back up but then my LO is only 3.5m and I have always been at 8 feeds a day.

This is just a guess but you might have better luck if you pumped after each of the nursing sessions you already have since your body is already producing milk at those times.

I just called the LC and she said to do that and go back to pumping 8x a day as if he were a newborn. Yikes! This may be a bit harder to do than I thought.

Sounds miserable! And then would you have to wean from the pumping sessions again?

I'm a BF newbie and J just turned 6mo. Do you feel full at all during the day? If so, I would pump opposite your morning and night sessions (lunchtime and midnight). Or like dragonfly said, pump after a morning/evening feeding.

Unless you want to be pumping 8x a day on vacation I do not think 2 weeks is enough time to get your supply up and then go back to 2 sessions a day.   I might try just getting what you can from adding one or 2 pumping sessions and just let LO get less BM during that time.

Likely I would stop pumping so much while on vacation.
