First of all you can't say someone passion is silly to you. nbsp; You just can't. nbsp;I am sorry I am being such a jerk about this.
So this is a thing now? I take issue with a few comments ONE time on ONE subject, defend myself in what I thought was a pretty unwhiney way, and now I'm officially the girl who gets her panties in a bunch? Choose your words wisely around Sensitive Sally? Awesome.
I'm thinking of getting B a 20" TV for his playroom. He doesn't sit and watch TV, but I need sound and can't stand being in his playroom for long without it. (FTR, MH wants to hold off until we move and put our 46" from the living room in there so we can upgrade. I think that's extreme and ridiculous. It belongs in a man cave.)

nese, what do you mean every time? I brought it up ONCE! One thread. Said my piece and moved on. OTHERS keep bringing it up. Not sure why I'm getting such flack over it when I let it go that day.
We're not having a birthday party for DS or getting him any gifts.
no gifts? is money an issue or does he just have too much? (if that is not too personal)
I don't know mighty's situation but I'm personally not getting Owen anything this year because it won't make one single difference to him. I get him things all the time anyway.

I am kidding because just this week alone someone has bashed teachers(dont care) and bashed people who don't eat meat(don't care). I still like my job and my lifestyle.

Alrighty. Seemed personal, especially with nese's comment following, but I guess it wasn't.
I'm thinking I may not get Rob a present for his birthday. He is going to get tons of stuff from everyone else, I am already paying for nice party, and he won't know the difference. I will at least wait until he gets his other presents and then see if there is something I want for him that he didn't get.

I've been daydreaming about an ex. He had a lot of emotional hangups from childhood and our relationship was incredibly rocky [and I'm now happy in my marriage], but daaaaamn time has been good to him. He looks and has aged just like Leo.
Current Leo is super delicious.
I seriously think I should defriend this guy so I stop seeing how handsome he is. This also ruins the art fairs for me this summer because I just realized he will be at all of them as one of the street performers.

Hide me today!
I love you but i did! I'll unhide you tomorrow LOL! If it makes you feel better your not the only one I hid
HAAAAAHAHAHA. I should be done for today.

she is talking to me. She said she laughs every time I bring it up. I have literally said this like 4 times this week. I thought it was funny to bring attention to the fact that people use the word silly to talk about what others are passionate about all the time.

Everything about all of that sounds extreme.
I'm going to have to agree with SLT on this one... If the TV is in the room, there will be a point where they begin to watch it for longer and longer periods of time... It's one thing if their toys are all in your living room...But I think it's quite another when there is a designated room for imagination and creative play.

Karm it wasn't a flucking connect the dots. I was pretty sure people would realize that was what was being referenced. And again it is because most people are passionate(I hope) about what they do for a living. And many, many people think that some jobs are silly. That's all. End of story.
Karm, I apologize. I was snotty to you because that's how I read your comment to me. I am clearly feeling defensive here. I'll just back away from this thread before I dig the hole deeper.
FTR, my post was not at all meant to be an AW. The doula is a fairly new concept in American culture and I thought it was a good opportunity to provide some info where there appeared to be confusion.
I started cloth diapering Liam when he was 8 weeks old, but we've have multiple instances where he's had a horrible break out and we've had to use disposables until his bottom cleared up. We are currently in that situation right now and I'm heavily considering just giving up cloth diapering. I absolutely hate to see him in discomfort and I feel terrible that he only has this issue when he wears cloth.
What's even worse is that my SIL is due in September and has decided to cloth diaper after seeing me do it with Liam. It makes me feel guility to give it up when someone has been using me as a example for cloth diapering.
Have you tried switching up the detergent? Or you could try coconut oil....we usually put that on Dex, and it's CD safe.
I have and each time he's ok for a little bit and then breaks out again. I have yet another detergent I'm going to try and if this fails again I think I might be done. I'll try the coconut oil, I actually have some in my pantry from when I mad lactation cookies last fall. Thanks.
Maybe it's the fabric? I know some LOs that didn't do well with synthetic so they switched to all natural. I know L gets redder with suedecloth than she does with fleece. Weird, I know. Just a thought!
I think vegans are silly. If you don't want to support large corporate meat and egg production I totally get that. But I think you should buy local instead of not eating it at all. And I don't buy any of the arguments that our bodies weren't made to eat meat. This is mosty brought on by my friend who is a crazy vegan. She cuts all these things out of her diet but doesn't replace them with a healthy substitute. When I was preggo and had high blood pressure issues she actually suggested I try cutting protein out of my diet. So yeah, I think vegans are silly.
Did you mean vegetarian? I don't think being vegan or vegetarian is silly, I just don't really get it, and definitely would not be able to do it. We don't eat a ton of meat in this house, even though I grew up with meat every day for lunch & dinner. We maybe have it 3-4 nights a week. I can totally understand not wanting to buy meat that has tons of chemicals and hormones in it (although you can always buy organic), but the argument that our bodies weren't made to eat meat does sound a bit silly to me. I mean, if you look at our teeth, humans are omnivores. We have canines for biting and tearing meat, and flat teeth for chewing veg.
But then I also think kibble is pretty silly - if you look at a dog's teeth, you can see they are carnivores. Only pointy teeth. So all of the veg in kibble is just filler, and the dog isn't getting 100% of what they need - which is why it's so unhealthy for them. We raw feed. I laugh when people feed their dogs actual vegetables....they don't need it! Sometimes we'll give the dogs pumpkin for the fiber if they have had too much bone lately and need help pooping, but other than that, it's all meat and eggs.
I don't usually get on a soapbox about raw feeding, so excuse me!
First of all you can't say someone passion is silly to you. You just can't. I am sorry I am being such a jerk about this.
I am a vegetarian simply because I don't like meat. I think it is gross. I have tried to be a vegan many, many times. Really just for health reasons. I like what cutting out dairy does to my skin, how it makes me feel and what it does to my body. But, then I miss pizza and I go back.
Okay, so by silly I meant "it's a life choice I have a really hard time understanding."
I said this in my long reply to mckinky, but vegetarianism I totally understand. There are lots of reasons I see that make perfect sense to me--just not liking meat being one of them.
For veganism it's that I've never seen a really healthful vegan diet that doesn't include a) soy, which is loaded with hormones, something it seems like a lot of vegans don't want in their meat or b) lots of supplements and vitamins, which to me is a tell tale sign that there is something missing from your diet.
There's a way bigger conversation here about how much dairy we consume and general diet balance and all of that, but my kid is trying to eat magnets at the moment. (His iron must be low.)
I was kidding!!!! I really don't care what you or anyone else thinks about vegans. I don't mean that in a rude way at all. I am one of those vegetarians that doesn't care if you eat meat, veggies, fruit, your mom. I just don't care. Other people's food choices don't affect me.

No no no. Don't unfriend him. All of that sounds amazing. If you unfriend him, you won't be able to casually check him out when you want!
I like art fairs. Lucky for you I'm your bestie and will attend them with you... To keep things in perspective, of course. Not to oogle.
We're not having a birthday party for DS or getting him any gifts.
no gifts? is money an issue or does he just have too much? (if that is not too personal)
Family and friends are getting him some gifts, but we're not getting him anything specifically for his birthday. He's not deprived!
Plus, my H has become very anti-toys. Our neighbor has 2 young girls and even I'll admit it seems they have an overabundance of toys (but hey, it works for them and I love bringing DS over to play with them!). He has a fear that our house will become overtaken by children's toys.
We are not getting our LO any gifts either. My mom and the ILs will buy her plenty of gifts. When she is older we will get her birthday gifts. Right now she is to young to understand and will get plenty of things from family.

This would be very handy but it's a Friday and you work Fridays, no? So I will be left to my own devices. That sounds more inappropriate than intended...
Luckily he's the human statue and his face is painted, obscuring hotness. This means I could still go, right?

Isn't a playroom for playing? Maybe I'm wrong? If you need sound, what about music, or singing to your kid, or talking to your kid?
Maybe I'm the freak because we have 1 TV in the house. My kids will hate me and need all sorts of therapy because they will not have a TV or computer in their rooms either.
I was actually thinking more music like the Sirius kid's channels. We talk and sing a lot; I just need background noise. I have a dog that whines when she hears ANYTHING, so noise helps. Y'all are all echoing my thoughts, thus the reason I haven't done it.

I started period 10 since april. As in ive had 10 in 3 months. I will let that sink in.
So kendall is pushing her high chair around the kitchen, eating cheerios off the floor and being ignored because i have cramps. And i dont even feel bad about it. I cant even see her at this point.
Oh that sucks. I had 5 in a 2 month period and I wanted to stab myself. SO sorry.
This happened to me when I got mine again too. It lasted about 3 months, then finally regulated. It may have had something to do with the bc pill, though. I think I started it around the time it finally got right.

With 140 replies I have a feeling I'm going to be quoting here in a minute. But before I delve into this mess I'll go ahead and confess.
1) I routinely drag Taylor's high chair into the living room so I can bump from my phone and watch TV in peace for a few minutes. Before you flame me too hard, another reason for this is b/c our kitchen gets dreadfully hot in the summer since there are two massive windows and only one air vent. But, mainly I do it so I can bump and watch TV.
2) Most of Taylor's favorite toys are all electronic light-up things. I've seen a few comments on this board that lead me to believe electronic toys are bad for some reason, and I don't really know why. I could look it up but I really don't care. She likes them and they keep her occupied.
I've worn the same bra every day this week... It's going on day 5, maybe 6... I know it's gross, but I only have 1 black bra that fits well right now.
I've worn the same bra every day for at least 2 months. I wash it every week. I feel guilty buying anything these days for myself and it's the only one that fits.
She loves sweets, I love sweets. It's not shocking to me that either of us are excited at the prospect of twinkies.
You just keep telling yourself that's what you meant by that comment and we'll all hold our breath and wait for it to become true.
And BOOM goes the dynamite!

My mom has always and still calls me Sis. I like it, it's something I associate with her.
This may be more of an UO, but I want to be like my mom as Charlie gets older. She was the best mom.
I don't like Twinkies, but love snowballs!
I'm not sure we play enough with Charlie, but she's always so happy playing on her own and dragging stuff around right now I don't know if I should be worried.
Even a minor event in
the life of a child is an event of that child's world and thus a world
event.
I normally stay our of things. But really? That was kind of rude.
Holy shiiiit people say rude things on here?
People say rude things all the time on here. Your little gem of a comment crossed a line that hasn't yet been crossed on this board. So well done you! You're a trailblazer!
This. And so cute that you tried to backtrack the second someone called you on it. If you're going to be a jerk, at least own it.
It's one thing to flame something that rubs you the wrong way or to encourage debate, it's another to be hateful for the sake of being hateful. I imagine that IRL you constantly make a face that looks like you've been sucking on a lemon.
We're not having a birthday party for DS or getting him any gifts.
no gifts? is money an issue or does he just have too much? (if that is not too personal)
This is us. My kid gets new toys just about every time I leave the house. He won't miss another toy for his toybox on his birthday, I mean he's one. He won't remember this at all.
I don't know mighty's situation but I'm personally not getting Owen anything this year because it won't make one single difference to him. I get him things all the time anyway.
Karm didnt even seem offended. She made a witty comment and that was it. I dont get why the twinkie comment is such a big deal. What line did cwm cross?
Karm and I are the only ones who have half a sense of humor during fffc time. Everyone else goes up in arms over things not even said to them. It's whatevs.
I don't usually drink sweet tea anymore because of the sugar and calories. It is normally just a rare treat but since I ordered my cleanse from Stoked, I have had it every night with supper. It is so good but so not weight friendly!
I just laughed out loud. Enjoy it while you can! I drink Splenda tea if I just have to branch out from water. I could drink a gallon a day. So good.
I knew only the Southern girls would understand this one! I have not tried Splenda tea before but I may have to sometime. I normally just drink water and the insane amounts of Diet Coke that I confessed to before. I think just knowing how strict I am going to be on the cleanse and getting back into my old "food is for fuel not just for fun" way of thinking made my brain revolt and demand one last go with the sweet tea before it is banned again.
Love me some sweet tea. I have cut a lot of it out to cut some sugar but sometimes you just gotta have it. We went to Maine a few years ago and were gone for a full week. Once we left Virginia, it didn't exist except for the nasty flavored stuff. When I got home, I made a gallon and drank it on my porch swing (not the whole gallon!)
I think the North East and other parts of our country are beautiful.. but they are missing out by not drinking sweet tea. lol.. AND, many places blow my mind at not wanting ice in their drinks! No ice? You can tell they have not visited my hot 90 degree weather with 110% humidity! Ice is like A/C in your cup!
This drive me NuTS in Europe. I studied abroad in Paris in the summer. It's hot there in the summer and there was no air conditioning! On top of that no ice in my drinks! Bad enough no ice in my water but really, no ice in my Diet Coke from McDonalds? It was so annoying to have to ask for it all the time.

Even a minor event in the life of a child is an event of that child's world and thus a world event.
Eta mobile bump fuuucked this post all up.
Karm and I are the only ones who have half a sense of humor during fffc time. Everyone else goes up in arms over things not even said to them. It's whatevs.
I ran over a BIRD this morning. Sitting in the middle of the highway. Pooof! I felt bad, but then got over it quickly
What just happened in my diaper?!
