So I started my weekly appointments this week along with my NSTs.. OB monitored me for an hour on the NST.. I had 8 contractions! Because I"m so close to "term" she said she'd let me go and we can "see what happens".. but, she joked and said looks like we may have been right and you aren't gonna make it to your c/s date!!
Guess I better pack my bag tonight Of course, this could mean nothing, but it could also mean something.. I've been having tons of contractions all week.. timeable, too.. sometime as quick as 3-5minutes apart, other times spaced out 10-12 minutes apart.. I said I've thought about calling multiple times, but then I decide to make a deal with myself.. lay down and see if I can go to sleep.. if not, call.. if I can fall asleep, they aren't that bad yet.. so far, I've fallen asleep all 3 nights.. !
We're having DS's 1st birthday party on Saturday.. I'm hopeful we'll be fine until then at least!
Re: Interesting OB appointment..
Wow, that's exciting and I'd imagine nerve wracking. If it were me, I wouldn't be able to sleep just out of anticipation!
Here's hoping you have the birth experience you want!
Excited and extremely nervous.. DS was born at 38 weeks and was in the NICU for 5 days... OB assured me these contractions could linger for weeks before labor.. R could be quicker.. Also assured me just because DS was a NICU baby doesn't mean DS2 will be also, even if he comes at 36 weeks... We shall see.
As a fellow NICU mom, I can understand your fears. I guess you could say that IF DS2 has a NICU stay, he'll be lucky that you're experienced on that front and will know exactly what to do. That said, I like your OB's thinking. I've heard of plenty of moms with a late term preemie that had no NICU stay at all. Do you mind if I ask why your first son was in the NICU?
he had tachypnia and fluid in his lungs so they immediately put him on antibiotics and he was jaundice. The tachypnia and fluid cleared up by day 3 but they had been gavaging him so when he was expected to drink on his own, he wouldn't take as much as when they were filling his belly through the tube.. The fluid they think was from him being stuck in the birth canal for so long.
How scary for you! With that as the cause, I suppose there's little chance DS2 will have the same complications. FX everyone remains healthy!
