Beach with 3 month old?

Hi ladies! We are anticipating our trip to the cape next weekend for the 4th and I'm really looking forward to it!

That being said, what advice do you have for a trip to the beach with G? She's just under 3 months and I don't feel comfortable using sunblock yet. We have a sunhat, but I'd like to keep her out of the sun altogether.

Do you recommend a big beach umbrella? Stroller with muslin blanket draped over? Beach tent?

I've been looking at beach tents on am.azon but the reviews say that they can get too hot.

Help! I'm confused...

We love our beach tent! The flaps usually fold up to let the breeze through so it doesn't heat up in there. We took DS to the beach for the first time when he was about three months and I nursed him in the tent. He also napped in the tent on a Boppy pillow we brought. We still use it at the beach when he needs a break from the sun even though he is bigger. Thanks for posting this!  We are headed to Sunset Beach, NC in a couple weeks to visit family and there will be some beach and pool time while we are down there.  L will be about 2 1/2 months old at the time.

I bought something similar to this sun dome and I'm hoping it works.

I never thought of the Boppy but I will definitely include it in our beach bag.  I bought him a rashguard shirt and shorts along with a big sun hat too.

What's the deal with water?  Pool vs ocean water?  Are either alright?  I plan on asking the pedi when we go next week.

We went in both pool and ocean water, from a month old to four months old. I am sure you can find someone who will tell you a problem with either or both, but we had a great time and no harm done Smile

I didn't read everyone else's responses, so this may be a repeat, but we bought a beach tent like this and love it:  https://www.walmart.com/ip/3661081?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227001139355&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=14129693110&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=35047223710&veh=sem

The other one we had did get too hot, but we don't have a problem with this one.

We used a big beach umbrella and we brought down his little vibrating bouncy seat so he could look around and also nap in it.
