My name is Tracine. My husband Blake and I are thinking about starting the next chapter in our lives - baby time! We have been together for over 10 years and married for 2 1/2 years! I always just assumed that having a baby in a hospital was the 'way to go' but I have been doing a little bit of research on birthing centers and at home delivery methods. One of our friends had a water birth delivery at her home and she speaks so highly of it. I have also converted my home to all natural products and just, all in all, am very interested in natural ways of doing things. Money was also a factor in why we am researching other ways of delivery other than expensive hospitals.
Few questions:
Can anyone recommend a fabulous midwife or a great birthing center that is within 5 miles of Tatum and the 101 freeway.
I understand that it would be hard to put a dollar amount on what fees are for midwifes/birthing centers, because every pregnancy is different, but is there an average cost so we can start planning?
Thank you so much for your time. I'm excited and a weee bit nervous.

Re: Midwife Recomendations
I've heard great things about Midwives Rising, but I don't think they're near you.

Hi,
I go to Blossom Birth and Wellness Center. I LOVE THEM!!!! This is my 2nd child and Im doing it totally different than with my first son.
Going all natural. My midvies are Nichelle, she is an MD but practices like a midwife, Mary, and Diane. They all are wonderful and they have two awesome birthing suites. Its off the hwy 51 and Thomas rd. So its a bit further than 5 miles, but from where you're at, there really isnt any birthing centers up there. I also live up north here and I actually live near i-17 and happy valley rd, its a good drive for me but it is worth it and I am so glad I choose them.
I am due in 11 days and hoping this boy comes soon. Good luck with your choice.
Oh Also cost wise, we paid $4450 cash. Our insurance doesnt cover any maternity care at all! So it was all out of pocket, but they let you do a payment plan of whatever works for you. You would schedule and consult and see if you like the place and them and they give you a booklet to tell you more about them and what they are about etc. Then you can call and let them know if it would work, that's when they asses if you're low-risk, so that they can take you on as a client.
