Weekend time with DC

My in-laws always want to come up on weekends and I'm almost commanded to hand over DD when they get there. They're in for a real awakening now b/c at her age she wants to be down and playing A LOT. It's not like I get to spend all day with her and nights are short between commuting, dinner and bedtime. DH is in school so they could come up during the week on his day off. There are other issues with the ILs but I feel like I'm being shorted time with DD when they come. Maybe I'm just missing DD today.

Anyone else feel this way?

Re: Weekend time with DC

  • I sort of do.  My mom always wants to watch DS on the weekends (or at least see him), and I like for my dad (they're divorced) to see him fairly often, too, which means a lot of family time on the weekends.  I'd rather have more time with just DH, DS, and I.

  • I really don't feel that way.  When my IL's come (about 1x every month and a half) I look at it as a vacation for me.  They love to play with and take care of DD, I'm still around and I really enjoy watching them interact and not have to change every diaper.
  • I feel the same way you do.  I don't get much time with him during the week so the weekends are all for me.  Last Saturday I had to work so I was at work 6 days that week.  My IL's stopped by Saturday night and luckily they didn't attempt to take him from me.  That was my time.

However, if it's my family, I'm fine with sharing him on the weekends.  But my IL's are a completely different story.  Probably because my MIL and Step MIL are psycho.
