Has anyone dealt with an inguinal hernia in their DS?

We are fairly certain DS has an inguinal hernia and will hopefully know for certain this week. If he does, it definitely means surgery to correct it.  I've read that it's minor surgery, and in the grand scheme of things doesn't seem like something to be worried about, but it still makes me nervous.  I think what really makes me nervous is figuring out how/what to explain to him with regard to the surgery and anesthesia.

Just wondering if anyone else's DS had this and what your experience was with the surgery and recovery.  DS is 2.5.
