Different strategy for work schedule

I read the "What time do you get to work" thread and realized that I am actually maybe the only one who gets to work later to spend more time with DD in the morning instead of afternoon. Once she started daycare, she moved her bedtime to 6:30pm, so even if I get home at 5, which would mean leaving work before everyone else in my department, I would still maybe get one (semi-cranky) hour and a half with her. Instead, I decided to go in at 9am so that we can play from 6:30am when she wakes up until I drop her off at daycare at 8:15am. She is so much happier and playful in the mornings. DH picks her up from daycare at 5:15pm and I usually get home around 6:15pm, nurse her, and then put her to bed.

Does anyone else value that morning time more than the after work time?

Re: Different strategy for work schedule

  • I do not mind what time it is as long as I have some quality time with LO. I do go in late sometimes and come home a little early others (go in early). As long as I get to hang with my little dude.

  • DD tends to be happier in the morning, but by going in early and leaving early, I cut my commute down to 1/3 of the time, which makes me happier (I'm prone to road rage apparently) and also increases the amount of time I get to spend with her.
