Why get a Moses basket?

Besides the fact that they are pretty?  Call me clueless, but can't babies sleep in their carriers, or stroller bassinets when visiting people?  Or even on a regular bed?

Just curious.

Re: Why get a Moses basket?

  • Personally, they seem a bit awkward. I'm not buying a bassinet either, since Sadie will be in a crib from day one...so maybe it's just me, lol.

  • Yes, they can. I think the moses baskets are cool too but really not worth paying for. In the german stroller I got it has a moses basket insert and i love it (it came with it and i would never pay extra for it). My stroller also lays all the way down so it turns into a bassinet. I love my stroller!
  • I agree, they seem kind of pointless.
  • For us space is an issue, so a moses basket is a better choice than a pack and play for downstairs.  We have a cradle upstairs in our room that he/she will sleep in.  We have outgrown our house, but there's no way we can sell so for now I'm just trying to make dueBig Smile
  • I have an aunt that will swear by a moses basket.  We are personally getting one because it will fit in the cradle and also to keep the baby up and away from the dog.  I've been told they are nice to have in the house so that way if the baby falls asleep in it you don't have to transport them physically, like if they fell asleep on the couch and you had to go down to do laundry, this way you can bring the basket with you without waking baby.  Just my thoughts though.
