Lurking from IF - OHSS Question

Hey there ladies!  I'm hoping to be joining you very soon, as Beta #1 came back at 451.  I'm experiencing mild OHSS symptoms that seem to be getting more painful day by day.  I'm also hella bloated.

My question is this....

I am a lawyer, which means I sometimes have to wear a suit.  Suits can be pretty spendy, but one take you pretty far with new blouses.  NONE of my suits fit.  I have a huge hearing next week that will require 2 days of suit wearing.

Do you think its worth it to go buy a new suit that will fit over the bloat?  Did your bloat go away after awhile or did it hang out?

Beta #2 is tomorrow.  I will gladly accept doubling vibes alongside the requested fashion advice.  :)

can you borrow a suit from someone? I wouldn't buy a new one as the bloat should go away in a week or two. Can you leave the skirt a little unzipped?

I would actually buy a size up if you can afford it. Or at least some black maternity dress pants you can match up with an existing jacket.

I had terrible OHSS and bloating from treatments and mine never really went away. Eventually it just turned into a baby bump around 13 weeks or so. I was in maternity pants from around 9 weeks because I was just so uncomfortable in my regular clothes.

    Good luck!!!

First of all - congrats on the great beta! FX for a great beta #2!

I hope the OHSS gets better soon too.

As for the suit, I would go purchase a bellyband. You can get one from Target in black and have your suit pants or skirt unzipped and the band will help keep everything together. It'll just look like a black layering tank if your shirt rides up. I definitely wouldn't buy a new suit though.

    Hope you join us soon!

Gas X is safe to use in pregnancy and it helped me a TON with bloating. Try it out, hope it helps.

No advice about the suit, if you can, could you wear a dress with an open blazer/suitcoat over the top to dress it up, or do a blouse/skirt combo with a suitcoat?

I'm a lawyer too, but luckily I only had to wear a suit once or twice early in the pregnancy.  Can you get away with a Bella band or something similar?  I found that those worked better with pants than skirts, but that may just be with me.  If you can wear a longer top (not something that has to be tucked in) over that, it will hopefully get you through.

I would just hesitate to buy a suit since I've heard from friends that basically all maternity suits are unflattering, so if you can avoid them, or wait and buy one for a little later in pregnancy, it might be better.

Either way, good luck tomorrow and sorry you have to be dealing with a big hearing in the middle of all of this!

Congrats on a great first beta!! Hoping you join us over here very soon.

I would echo the other girls in recommending a belly band. It will be money well spent because you'll definitely use it throughout your first tri anyway. Or, if you think it would work to wear suit separates, you could always buy a pair of maternity work pants that would go with one of your suit jackets.

Either way, best of luck with beta #2 tomorrow!!

Echoing all PPs in getting a belly band. And I had OHSS too-it lasted for a couple weeks and then the bloating went down but never quite to pre-preg size bc I was pregnant! OHSS is uncomfortable but a great sign that your betas are rising...GL to you! Sodium and gatorade are your friends to pull that water back into your veins.

Congratulations on a great beta! It is nice to see you over here.  As far as the fashion advice-I'm no help! I wear scrubs to work everyday! But I will send some doubling vibes your way!

You ladies are the best.  I think I will try the bella band and buy a new suit if I need it.  It doesn't take much for me to buy a new suit...and I have a coupon at Ann Taylor that is burning a whole in my pocket.

Thanks for the vibes!  I'll formal intro either after that....or the u/s.  I really hope to be joining you ladies again soon...this time for good!

    Lurking......

Congrats on a strong beta! Sending doubling vibes! I did not have OHSS, but I can tell you that my IF bloat stuck around and turned into the baby bump. Can you borrow from someone?
