This is a great reminder, especially the part about kids loving to help with real, adult-y tasks. I too often get frustrated by my kids being in my way when I'm trying to get stuff done instead of involving them.

DS yesterday kept putting the weeds back in the garden. At first I kept trying to stop him but I realized he thought he was helping by putting them back. Also, he wasn't pulling out flowers so I just told myself to quit trying to control everything and enjoy that he's gardening with me.
This is a topic I am very passionate about. I ran a home daycare for a while and found that the less toys I had, the better everyone played. So many children didn't know how to PLAY with toys because they had so many. They were used to things with screens and/or batteries.
Watch any toddler for five minutes and you'll see that they are more interested in rocks, dirt, leaves, and sticks than any toy on the market. :-)
Re: XP: The Boy with No Toys
This article is a great reminder of that.
LOL. He's not helping but he's still learning!
