white water rafting

So DH wants to go the weekend of July 4th since we've never been. It will be class 3 4 rapids. Problem is, AF is due that weekend, or I could possibly get a BFP. We would have to book soon. On the website it says not to go if you are pregnant, even early on. Is that early still unsafe? I may call my doc and ask, but the RNs there aren't the nicest.

BTW, I hate scheduling things around trying and "possibly bring pregnant". I'm so ready for this craziness to end

I think it's good to check with your doctor but I have stopped scheduling things around whether or not I'll be KU. I would also find out what the cancellation policy is.

like PP mentioned, I would recommend finding out the cancellation policy. Although in the end  even if I didn't get my money back I'd be to excited about a pregnancy to care about the money Smile

I've never been white water rafting, but I'm not sure I'd want to do that with AF

I used to be a ww raft guide.

Very cool that you want to go rafting. Which river? Of course talk to your doctor and only do what you're comfortable with, but at 4w it would be unlikely for baby to be affected. Drink lots of water and don't overexert yourself if you get pg. AF is no biggie to me on the river, had it many times when that I worked there, so that wouldn't stop me.

I was tired of living in the "yeah, but what if" state of mind. I will no longer miss out on things just because of this TTCAL hell. I was tired of putting my life on hold. I agree that it's good to check with Dr and cancellation policy, but my 2 cents is go for it!

Exactly this. I just go for things now if I want to do them... if I get pg, THEN I'll deal with whether or not I can do something.

    Book it!

I have a whitewater rafting and zip lining trip planned with two of my girlfriends for August. The cancellation policy is 72 hours prior to the trip for each event. I am pretty sure that any outfitter will understand and either refund you or give you a rain check to go another time if you end up being pregnant.

I say this lovingly and because I need to remind myself of it too - do not let TTC run your life, it's a sure way to spiral yourself into depression. If you miss out on a BFP, you also missed out on rafting... But if you get a BFP, you can raft later!

The cancellation policy is a week, which sucks. I think we decided to go to that city, I'll POAS 2 days before AF is due, and if it is negative then we will book it last minute. If it is positive, there are other things to do there

That's awesome Junebug! You're a badass! Big Smile I love rafting. I've only been 3 times, but I had so much fun each time. What a rush!

I was just gonna say! Junebug, you just got awesomer.

I've done some super tame rafting on the Trinity River, but nothing that rambunctious.

Also, OP, book it! How lousy are you going to feel if you don't get the BFP and don't book vs if you do get the BFP and have to cancel. Option A is definitely more lousy, so book.

    Haha, thanks!

What we used to raft is Class 3 & 4's.  Nothing too scary, but the 4s can be technical and splashy. I miss it. A lot.

OP, Since you're talking about a holiday weekend, I'd book now and cancel later.  Independence Day weekend the river I worked was PACKED. You'll likely not have a slot to squeeze into if you don't book now. Any other weekend, sure, but the 4th and Labor Day Weekends were busy.
