Runner moms, which BOB?

I am planning to just get a BOB this time. We didn't use a stroller for general use hardly at all with our older DD, but I put a lot of miles on the jogging stroller we had. I sold all of the strollers we had because I tested a BOB and told DH that I would be upgrading when we had our next baby. I used the old jogger until DD was over 4. She'll be 7 when our new baby arrives, and already runs with us or rides her bike. But I don't know which BOB to get. Back in the day I loved the iron man I tested, but that was more than 3 years ago. Which BOB do you runner moms love? DH thinks we should go with the model that has the movable and fixed wheel option. Any pros and cons between the different models would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

After almost 3 years of IF and a crazy roadside delivery, we are loving life with our second beautiful daughter! Lilypie First Birthday tickers

  • I use the BOB Revolution SE single and the BOB Stroller Strides Duallie.  I suggest the Revolution SE... It is a great stroller and I love that it has the fixed or swivel wheel option.  It's gotten a LOT of use and will continue to be used for several more years (2 year old and 3 month old).

  • I recently bought a BOB Revolution.  I really have nothing to compare it to as #1 I am a relatively new runner and #2 the stroller I had been using before was a Baby Trend my husband bought last year.  All that aside...I LOVE it!  And the child seems to love it as well.  I love that it is wider, has the inside pockets for her to stash her sunglasses and water/snacks, the canopy, ease collapsing/opening, etc.

Just an fyi...I bought it new on ebay.  I wandered into a BRU recently and noticed they were at least $150 more in the store.

I have the BOB Ironman.  It has better shocks, bigger front wheel and it doesn't swivel.  I love it but I used it only for running.  If you want to use it for other outings, you may want the Revolution.  I have a Revolution duallie b/c I knew I would rarely run with 2 kids.  But we used it for the zoo, walks, etc. and it was great.

  • I havent used it yet but based on the reviews and demos at two different stores we are going with the Baby Jogger Summit X3. We're both serious runners and this seems to be the best stroller IMO.

  • I have the Revolution as well.  We use it as our all around stroller as well as taking DS when I go running on Saturday mornings.  Since we use it for trips to the mall, zoo, downtown etc, we wanted the swivel wheel.

The only minor annoyance I have with the setup for running is that sometimes the wheel is not true when you "fix" it for a run.  There is an adjustment knob on the wheel which is pretty easy to use but I don't find it convenient.  By the time I realize that the stroller is not tracking straight, I'm into the run and I don't want to stop, adjust, test it out and keep readjusting until I get the wheel tracking straight.   I imagine the permanent fixed wheel option doesn't have this problem.  The only other thing I would like is a brake on the handlebar.  I run down steep hills to my preferred gravel running path and although there is a wrist strap, I wish there was a brake.  I've run with my sister's stroller(not a BOB) which has a brake and that was nice on the downhill sections.  GL!

  • Love my BOB revolution. We are a one stroller family, so it was great. I've trained for two marathons pushing it and I'm currently training for my third. I've never had a problem.

  • We have had an ironman double and it has held up well over the past 4 years .

  • I have the Revolution SE and love it.  I didn't get it until #2 was almost 15 months old, so up until then our all-purpose stroller was a Maclaren Volo.  I still use that for traveling and going on the subway, and DS likes the Maclaren because he can get into it by himself, but he sees to enjoy the BOB too.  I use it almost every day, either for runs or (often long) walks, and I like having the swivel wheel.

  • Get the swivel wheel option. Someone bought us the Sport which only has a fixed wheel and it is a pain.
