NTR - Honda Pilot vs CRV

Hi ladies! I might have to downsize my Pilot to a CRV - does anyone have one? How is the storage space? We take a lot of road trips for vacations and want something that can hold a lot but also be comfortable. I know the Pilot is bigger, but was hoping the CRV would be managable too. I like the exterior... Love my Pilot - the payment not so much. :))

Re: NTR - Honda Pilot vs CRV

  • I have a CRV and I wish I had bought a Pilot.  At the time we thought the Pilot would be much more space than we needed.

We take a lot of road trips and it is too cramped in the CRV once we get the kids in (their car seats take up much of the back seat), Dh and I, the dog (a lab and he takes up much of the cargo space), and our luggage in the car.  Plus, when we have family visit we always need to take two cars because we cannot fit anyone but our immediate family in our CRV (like I said above, the car seats take up most of the seat space in the backseat, a small child may be able to fit between the car seats but an adult has a very difficult time getting wedged in there).

  • For weekend trips, the CRV works fine and I can usually fit everything, but if we are going for longer, like a week, then we use our roof rack, which helps a lot. I love my CVR and for two kids it works, but you are definitely giving up space coming from the pilot.

  • Thank you! I'm afraid it might be too small coming from what I have. We just got back from FL for a week & I had the Pilot loaded down lol. May try to cut in other places first. :))

We managed with the CRV with one kid. Once the second came along, I sold the CRV and bought a Highlander, which is somewhere in the middle size-wize between a CRV and a Pilot. Probably not much cheaper though! Also, there is a cost associated with buying/selling cars (sales tax, profit to dealers if you use them), so I would think twice.
  • True. We are hoping for a 2nd too. :)
