I'm a teacher so I was pulling my kids out Thursday for the summer and told them I planned to have them back in September. I talked to them a few times about schedules and my plans, so they definitely expect us back in
September. I don't have to pay for the summer. I did think I had a choice because I need care so early and because of our budget, but I've found another place that I like and works for us, so we're making the switch in September. I love DS's teacher and I'm satisfied w/ DD's class, although they don't seem to do a whole lot. My concerns are mainly with the woman that would be DS's teacher in the fall and the set us that they have for the toddlers (changing room in the hall so the whole class has to stay in the changing room while the baby is being changed). The place also smells like poop alot, and the room DS would go to after this lady is teeny tiny, like maybe 10'X10'.
Should I tell them tomorrow or Thursday? Also, how much detail do I go into? This daycare is closer to my home, the old one is by work, so I could just give that as my excuse, but I definitely want to say it has something to do with the next teacher. DS's teacher is so sweet, and she's a college girl who will be studying over seas in the summer. You think a nice card is enough or should I give her a small gift? I feel like then I should do something for DD's teacher too.
Re: leaving daycare
I'd tell them on the last day, and yes - I'd give the teachers a small gift.
As for your complaints, if you want to tell them your concerns, I'd set up an appt w/ the director and talk to them about it.
