High-Risk Pregnancy

SCH Question TIA

I'm almost 7 weeks pregnant and was recently diagnosed with a SCH. It was 2cm by 7mm by 5mm at 6 weeks.

My GP isn't able to tell me much and in Canada we don't see an OB until 20 weeks. Dr. Google is no help and is just scaring me

My question: does a SCH immediately cause your pregnancy to be high risk?

I had PROM with my daughter. Thankfully she made it to 40 weeks.

Re: SCH Question TIA

  • I had 4 SCH's this pregnancy and they don't make you high risk unless they cause a problem. It is important to know where the SCH is located, for example near the cervix or between the membrane. You will probably have bleeding, I hope your GP explained this to you. Depending on the size of the sch you might need bed rest. I was on bedrest for several weeks. GL

  • The radiologist's report said it was adjacent to the gestational sac. I had some brown and pink spotting that's stopped for a couple of days.

    Thanks for the information!

  • I agree with the PP. I had a SCH both this and last pregnancy. Both were near my cervix so I bleed until i finally past it. Very scare but common in pregnancy. In come cases you wont experience bleeding and your body would just obsorb it.

Dr Google is cool but if your going to read and get scared i say stay away from it.

    Good luck

  • I had an SCH and bled the entire 1st trimester. It resolved on it's own around week 16 and I wasn't considered high risk. I did PPROM at 35 weeks, but I have no idea if it had anything to do with the SCH.
