The house appraised for more than the sale price and we are trying to close NEXT WEEK!
Our realtor SUCKS and has been MIA again for a couple days. The issue with closing might be that the contracted repairs on the pool are not yet done. Seriously, others in the hunt, ditch your realtor at the first sign of instability. We never planned to buy a house that required seven option periods and eleven inspections. Having a good realtor would have made this process so much better.
This is crazy - so much to do now. So, working moms, tips on surviving the move? We have a 9 year old, 5 year old and 1 year old. I frankly do not know where to even begin thinking about this and organizing things. I need a checklist.
Re: House Update and Realtor Commentary
moving checklist:
setup excel spreadsheet with columns: t-do description, responsible party, due date, priority level. Keep one working document on your computer so that you can hide lines as the tasks are done and add to it as you think of more things. Keep one printed out copy on the fridge so that you and family can check off items as they are done.
start purging everything you no longer need/want. Everything that you don't have to pack and move and unpack will be a huge reducion in time and effort and stress!
Tell your children to choose their top three favorite toys, then 5-10 more that they would like to keep. Donate everything else. Promise them they will receive 3 new shiny toys once the move is over. (may be easier said than done but now is the time to purge!)
Get rid of all clothes, shoes and accessories that you haven't worn for the past year or two.
Get rid of all kitchen items that you have duplicates of, that are falling apart of that you haven't used in the past 2 years.
Get rid of all tools that are duplicates, or that no longer are used/needed.
If you have time, hold a garage sale. If you don't, donate it all and take the tax writeoff - just be sure to inventory
I'm not moving but this plan sounds amazing. I'd like to take a one month leave of absence and purge our whole house this way!
