I am starting to become paranoid over every little pain, cramp, discomfort because I don't feel my contractions. We even went to the hospital because of pressure I was feeling, and as I was hooked to the monitor I was having pretty big contractions but never would have known unless SO said something to me.
I dilated to a 7 with my daughter before getting my epi and hadn't felt those contractions either.
I'm only nervous because I really don't want to have this baby at home, in the car, etc. and want to have some kind of notice to head to the hospital. Lol
Has anyone else dilated significantly without contractions but started feeling them once it was "time"?
Re: Dilated to a 5, have felt no contractions.
That's what everyone says! Lol In a way I don't mind because I don't have the highest pain tolerance, but I hate not knowing what my body is doing!
Totally curious (not trying to be snarky), but why did you get an epidural if you dialated to 7 and didn't feel anything??

I was being induced by having my water broken, and wasn't sure if I would have felt anything after they had done that. So I opted in getting the epi.
I get that asked that a lot, and finally got curious myself. I asked her, and she said that there really is no medical reason to (my water hasn't broken, there is no sign of DD being in distress on our weekly visits, and ultrasounds) and I received the steroid injections to help her lungs develop once she noticed my cervix was starting to thin early.
A friend of mine was 39 weeks and dilated to a 6 with no contractions. She stayed that way for a few days and finally went into labor. She knew when it was time and made it to the hospital and had plenty of time to get her epidural.
Good luck!
Oh ok that makes sense!

That's refreshing! I'm opting out of the epi this time, but I still want to get to the hospital in time to have her there! Lol Thank you!
Nope! Not unless I go in dilated to at least an 8. If I make it to 38 weeks she said we would discuss stripping my membranes at that point. That's it though.
Ummmm ditto!!!
Good choice. I wouldn't want to be admitted either - dilation can be subjective too, depending on who checks. Obviously you are dilated at least a fair amount, and it's great that work is behind you.
I was 5 when I arrived at the hospital, after my water had broken. I had not felt a single contraction before then.
Even still, it took pitocin for me to even feel contractions, and another couple of hours before LO came.
You don't know what your body is going to do. It's not productive to obsess over what is not happening yet.

I'm lurkng from October '13, but I didn't have any pain with my contractions until it was time. I could feel them but the nurse told me to stay home until they were painful. My MIL told me after a few hours to just go to the hospital and get checked. She was thinking that maybe they would break my water to get things moving.
Well, thank god she convinced us to leave the house because we wouldn't have made it. I walked up to the elevator in the hospital and had my first very painful contraction! I had my baby about 20 minutes later. I only had a handful of painful contractions and my water never broke!
I am so fearful of having this baby in the car or my house. I'm leaving for the hospital at the first sign of contractions.
Good luck! Unfortunately I don't have any advice, but I wanted you to know I'm in the same boat.
I want your luck!!
Wow! That's awesome. I got an epi by 5 cm.
On one hand its awesome that you've made so much progress, pain free. On the other, I'd be nervous too. Oh and fwiw, contractions from 6cm onwards were a whole other ball game for me and I don't blame you for getting the Epi at 7cm, regardless of your situation! Mine didn't work last time, but I'm scared of that pain again and hope it does this time! I'm a total wimp though!
God yes. Count yourself lucky! Given your history I'm really surprised your MW or OB doesn't want to keep you now that you are at 5cm. Why don't they keep you?

With me not being "full term" just yet she doesn't want to. Also, I've been at a 5 for a solid 2 weeks now, so I don't think I'm progressing fast enough for her to worry. I was on bed rest until Friday.
