Has anyone ever heard of getting a positive test 6 days after ovulation? I took a test about an hour ago, after having been drinking all day long (not alcohol!), so with pretty diluted urine, and got a positive within three seconds (literally). I had what appeared to be a 10 day period, so should be just on day 18, which is 6 days past supposed ovulation. My temp had been down and everything. What's weird, is this 10 day period was lighter than average, with several days of just really light/spotting the last half. Could I have been pregnant last month, even though I got a negative test and had this supposed period this month? My first pregnancy was almost textbook as far as testing and when symptoms started.
So weird! Now I really have no idea just how far I am!!
Re: Positive 6 DPO??
Were you charting and temping? The cycle before my BFP Was only 3 days and lighter than normal compared to my 7-8day cycle, but it still counted as a cycle. If you got a negative test, you weren't pregnant.
I have read a few ladies on here getting BFPs at 6dpo, though. I believe that there's no real way to tell until you have your first ultrasound and they tell you how far along you are, but I could be wrong.

The short answer is no. I've heard of 8DPO as the soonest.
I'm betting you actually ovulated earlier and you aren't really 6DPO.
Usually, implantation doesn't even occur until 7 to 10 DPO anyway. So, if you are just counting days (versus charting your BBT) then my guess is that you ovulated much earlier and are probably further in your cycle than you thought.

My earliest positive was 7DPO so I'd say its possible, but I would expect a very light line that early. I would say its probable that you have been pregnant but you won't really know until you have an ultrasound.

In retrospect, I was so excited, and it was so late last night after a long day with very little sleep the night before, that I'm sure I didn't think about the need to divulge more information. So let's start over. FYI, I've charted consistently for the last 4 1/2 years.
My last for-sure period was May 12 - 17, and was a typical several days of mostly heavy, some moderate, and a bit of light bleeding. Ovulation (based on temp - I gave up on OPK's years ago) was at day 18 - also typical (my average ovulation is day 17). I took a test on day 26, 8 DPO, which was negative. I did not test again because the bleeding started late that night, but after the first few light days I got suspicious - I should have tested then, anyway! Hindsight is 20/20!
This suspicious "period" started on June 6, day 26 (I've been more regular since I got AF back after delivering my son, and average cycle lengths for the last six months have been 29 days - so another possibly unusual sign.) This lasted from June 6 - 15. 6 days of light bleeding and 4 days of spotting (very unusual for me). Temp did go down, but not until day 7, and went back up a few days later, spiking like usually happens for me after ovulation, on day 13 (so seemingly ovulation on day 12). I took the first test last night, day 18, with very diluted urine, seemingly 6 DPO, and it literally came up positive within 3 seconds of the urine hitting the test line. If I had indeed had a period and ovulation this month, I definitely wouldn't expect such an immediate, strong positive (the line is quite dark - darker than my first pregnancy test with my son at 10 DPO 2+ years ago).
(BTW, I tested yesterday (even though it was so early going by the days of this "cycle") because for awhile I've just had that subconscious feeling, as I did with my son - I just KNEW I was pregnant. I've also had some early pregnancy symptoms that go back as far as 3-4 weeks ago possibly.)
My OB likes to have the first prenantal visit around 9 weeks, when you can clearly hear a heartbeat, and it's too much of a hassle to try to communicate all of this to his receptionist, so I thought I'd come to the boards - not to mention that it was very late Sunday night, so calling his office really wasn't an option.
Anyway, I just wanted to hear some thoughts from anyone that may have experienced/heard of something similar, or someone with more knowledge of unusual cycles than I have.
Thanks everyone!
