Cloth Diapering

wipe solution question

A quick question for you CD'ers. I'm putting together my cloth wipe stash now, and as a complete newb, I was wondering what type of spray bottle you use for the wipe solution/water? That is, I don't plan on letting them soak in a box, or use a wipe warmer. Should I get a typical spray bottle, or the pump style bottle? Or is the whole thing personal preference? The pump style would seem to make more sense if spraying directly on LO's bum, but I wasn't sure, and most things I find via google/pinterest are all about using a wipes container or warmer.

Hoping I can gain some insight here! Thanks!

Re: wipe solution question

  • I have awarmer cuz my son will not tolerate cold wipes. However, many people use either a spray bottle or peri bottle for solution.

  • I use the peri bottle I got from the hospital after giving birth.

I didn't even think about that! Now, do you squirt onto your wipes or LO's bum? Or does it matter?

  • I have a really small pump bottle that I got in the travel section at the store. It easily fits in the diaper bag and we just use water.

Me, too.  I just squirt onto the wipes as I'm using them.

  • Thanks for the responses, ladies! The peri bottle makes perfect sense now that it's been mentioned!

  • Now I know why those things are so awesome.  When I had my son, the nurse kept asking me if I wanted a couple to take home.  And I said no, there were a million times later, I wish I had an extra.

I used the peri bottle at first, but I didn't like it. It squirted too much water when I wanted to get lo bum directly wet. I bought a cheap squirt bottle from Target that I like much better. The peri bottle is now a bath time toy.

I wouldn't start with a wipe warmer unless you find lo doesn't like cold water because what do you do when you leave the house? My DS doesn't mind the cold water.

  • I just use a cheap spray bottle. Mine was 2 at Walgreens in the travel items aisle. I just started using cloth wipes yesterday, and I just spray the wipe.

I keep a small stack of wipes in a disposable wipes container without a top. Then I use the peri bottle to wet them.

  • I tossed the peri bottle and I wish I had kept it for the diaper bag. I have been using an old hand soap dispenser for changes on the diaper table. It works great.

  • I had applecheeks bum spray at first, and I use that spray bottle for my diaper bag-I spray her bum directly. At home I use the peri bottle (mine leaks if tipped) and wet the wipe.
