I love the name Anna, but we can't use just Anna so DH nixed it a while ago. My mom and niece suggested Anastasia today and DH actually likes it! I'm NOT worried about a fifty shades connotation. It's a crappy book and no reason to eliminate a beautiful name.
Thoughts?
Re: Anastasia
NMS, but not a bad name. I loved it as a kid because of The Babysitters Club books. It was Stacey's full name
I haven't read the 50 Shades books - I love the genre, but heard horrible things about the writing quality, so my mind didn't automatically make that connection.

This. I've read 50 shades and I'm not reminded of the book. I remember it more from Cinderella and the babysitters club books.
Love the name.

I didn't read Shades, but I know the characters and would not have thought of that. I actually was thinking some kind of princess instead! Not a bad name at all and kind of unique IMO.
In a couple years maybe I will get over it, but 50 Shades definitely ruined it for me. Same with Christian. Which is unfortunate because I considered them both okay names before.
That said, I don't think those books will be relevant forever (god help us all if they are) so if you like the name, use it.
