Naked pic of older LO on FB!?

Seriously, how do people think this is OK in today's world?!? I just saw a pic on my newsfeed of the buck naked backside of the child of a girl I went to HS with. The child is a girl, and no you can't see anything on her front side, just the back but I really don't think that makes it any better. She's about 3 moths older than Addy so not a little baby at all either. The sole purpose of the pic is the nakedness too since the caption is "nakey baby!!" The child is at an outdoor public shower after going to the beach. If I knew the mom better I would say something but I really don't so I guess I'm just left to shake my head. Having a naked child in your private backyard is one thing, but in a public place and above all posting pics to FB is a whole different deal IMO.

  • I completely agree. That's inappropriate.

  • I think public places can be okay under some circumstances, but definitely not facebook. Your area can be completely accommodating and accepting but you never know who's on the internet.

We actually told my MIL that she is not allowed to post any pictures of LO on FB because she is an "over-sharer."  She has posted a bunch of naked pictures of my nephew on FB and I didn't want her doing the same with my LO.  Some people have no sense!!!
  • I just don't understand this.  What are people thinking?  SD has pics of her "model book" out online (scam website) with her measurements and claiming she will pose for lingerie.  She is 14.  Her mom sees no issue with this.  At any age there are limits that many people just somehow seem to miss.  Scary.

I threw up a little reading this...seriously, it made me sick.

I'm also pretty sure public nudity is not ok, no matter the age.  I would cringe at a naked baby anywhere except a changing table.  I can't think of a reason to have my child naked in public.  Except maybe fire ants.  Maybe.

  • There are SEVERAL people on my FB who post pictures of their kids [boys and girls] playing in the water in nothing but their underwear. We're talking everywhere from 4 to 10 years old. All debates about nudity aside, I just see something very wrong with publicly displaying a pic of your daughter in sopping wet panties. Or your son in soaked tighty whities for that matter. If nothing else, I find it very disrespectful of your child.
  • I personally wouldn't post it, but seeing baby tush on a private Facebook account wouldn't really warrant a sideeye from me, honestly. If the account were public or the child were older or the photo were of frontal nudity, then, yeah, not cool in my book. But hiney under two? Pretty innocuous.

I also don't find it inappropriate at all for a child to be rinsing off nude at the beach. Definitely wouldn't let my child run around naked on a public beach, but a quick rinse off before changing into dry clothes? NBD. I change L out of her swim diaper and into dry clothes at the pool all the time. It's much easier than doing it in a hot, humid, crowded locker room, and 80 percent of other parents seem to be doing the same.

  • For the record, there are a few states where public nudity isn't illegal at all, even for adults. And in no state is it illegal for a child under five to be naked.

Around here there are lots of swimming holes and such where around half the swimmers are naked. I'm talking mothers and families and children, not just creepy old men or something. I wouldn't think twice about taking Ramona there naked. The vitamin D is good for her diaper rash and she really enjoys it.

It doesn't bother me if others don't let their kids run around naked, but if your considering it, don't be deterred! There are definitely many places where it is 100% acceptable.
