Pre-School and Daycare

sesame place

We went last summer and we're planning another trip there this year.  Last summer we did the 2 day pass and did it as an over night.  We didn't experience any of the extreme lines I've heard about so we were able to basically do everything in a day and we didn't need two.

I'm wondering what hotels you'd recommend.  I noticed several had shuttle services, we didn't know about that before so we stayed a little out of the way.  What other area attractions do you recommend?  If we can do everything in a day again we'll do something else for day 2.  Does anyone know if there is a day that has less camp trips?

Re: sesame place

  • I don't know anything about the hotels but I Philly is only about 1/2 hr away.  My son is 2.5 and we went to the Please Touch Museum and I can't say enough great things about that place.  It is literally one exit after the Philly Zoo which is another option.  I would call the places you are looking at and they can tell you if they know of more popular days and look at the calendar for days you are interested.  NO WHERE is fun with crowds but then again it is summer.

    Enjoy!

I second the please touch museum and zoo.  We also frequent the aquarium in Camden.

If you are driving, Linvilla farms is a nice place for families.  They have pick your own seasons and fishing with hayrides, pony rides, a great playground, and often festivals on Saturdays through the summer.

i saw an add for the Crayola factory recently and it looks like they have jazzed up their facilities.  It isn't in Philly but close and may be worth considering.

As for where to stay...if you are just planning anything listed above, just go with the best deal.  You will have to drive no matter what and unless you are staying in some great boutique hotel in center city, they are all the same.

We did the crayon factory a few weeks ago, I hadn't been before they renovated but it was amazing, DD had such a great time.  It was only about 2 days after they reopened so after we'd been there around 3 hours it did start to get packed, but we had a great morning.

Sesame Place has a list of hotels they have deals with.  I didn't book through them because the buy two get one free night was not really a good deal unless you wanted season passes and they refused to break down the prices for me.  However, it was a nice overview of the hotels in the area and which offered shuttles.  We aren't staying that close because we also want to do other things, but we're staying at the Crowne Plaza Bucks County.  Mainly for the playroom right off the restaurant.  My kid doesn't like to eat so maybe he can play while we eat in peace. =)

  • There's a Sheraton right across the street. I haven't stayed there yet, but when I asked for recommendations this hotel was given by a few people.
