How many generations in your family?

We have 4. I've been thinking about my grandparents today. I've been itching for a new tattoo and thinking of getting one dedicated to my most recent family loss, my grandfather. I have both of my mothers parents still alive but all of my fathers parents, and both sets of step-grandparents have passed away. DH only has 1 grandmother left.

Both sets of my grandparents have passed away. DH still has his maternal grandmother, his maternal grandfather, and a stepgrandmother.

We have 4 generations on my side because both of my grandfathers are still alive but both of my grandmothers have passed. On DH's side only 3 generations. DD gets to see both if her great grandpas this week. It's a three generation road trip (my Mom, me, and DD) to visit family we haven't seen since September.

i was very close to my grandmother and after she died (suddenly in a car accident) I got a tattoo in her memory. It's been 5 years. I so desperately wish DD could have known her. She was my second Mom. She would have loved all her great grandchildren (3) but sadly she didn't get to meet any of them.

Three generations on both sides of our family. My brother and I started families later. I was 39 when Fifi was born. My nephew was born when my brother was 43. Even though our one grandmother lived until 96, it was still too late to have four generations. Sophia's middle name is Mary after my paternal grandmother.
