Cloth Diapering

Dryer sheets on clothes

I have three costco boxes of dryer sheets on hand currently. Obviously we won't be using them for our CDs but what is the thought about using them on the rest of our clothes? Will any of the residue left in the drum cling on to the diapers? Or it usually not an issue?

Re: Dryer sheets on clothes

  • I eventually just stopped using them, but didn't notice them causing any damage.

It seems like there is mixed advice about this, though,so if you were worried you could just wipe it out with a damp washcloth or towel before drying your diapers. My vote just goes to 'Don't worry about it until/unless it causes and issue.'

  • I agree with ITK....just use them up.  I would never even think of this as a possible problem

  • I still use dryer sheets with our clothes. They just come out too static-y without them. We've had no problems with our diapers yet.

  • If you are concerned about residue, you can always wipe the drum of the dryer with a water/vinegar mix solution.  This will take care of anything left over.  We stopped using dryer sheets completely.  However, they are useful with storing clothes.  You can pop a few sheets in a box and it will work like moth balls but smell lots better.
