Registry returns?

How was your experience returning from your registry at babies r us and/or target? Did you need a print out of the registry? Of course the one thing I changed my mind on is already purchased...

Re: Registry returns?

  • That's usually the way it works! Lol! I know target has an option to print a purchase list, that's supposed to help with returns.... BRU is pretty good about returning items from your registry as well!
  • Loading the player...
  • I changed my mind on a few things too...I'm planning to wait a while and then handle all returns at once.
  • I'm curious to hear the answer.  My coworker told me that registry returns at Target were a nightmare for her and her hubby, and that's where I registered most of my stuff.  Something about a cap of how much she could return?

What do they do specifically?  Is it bad enough that you would just register somewhere else altogether?  I had no problems with the wedding registry returns...

They were awful with our wedding registry. Each of us was only allowed either a certain number of returns or a dollar amount, I can't remember which. They made both me and my H scan our drivers licenses to keep track of that amount. This was even to return things with gift receipts and proof of our registry. We could only exchange to store gift cards.

Something arrived to us broken, and they were a mess trying to figure out that.

I don't know what would've happened if we exceeded their preset limit, since we never did. Their policies totally prevented us from registering there for the baby.

ETA: I should add that I have no clue if these are still their policies. We got married 4 and a half years ago, so there is of course a chance that has changed. Wasn't worth it to us to find out.

Good news! Their registry returns are so much easier now. If you have a registry, you can do unlimited returns, even if the item wasn't on the registry (as long as Target carries it). Something is wrong with their registry set-up though. I got a TON of multiples from my Target stuff. I would have gift receipts showing the items were purchased from the registry, yet I still got 3 or 4 of some things. So strange. I ended up with hundreds of dollars of store credit and used it to buy all the remaining things I needed with my completion discount (and then some). Good luck!

Their registry info updates so slowly. I had a friend call me about this the other day. I'm just prepared to have a bunch of the same item.... Oh well!

  • I didn't have a problem with target returns. They just give you a gift card for their store. No hassle
  • Target sucks.... I dunno about their registry tho.... I'm pretty sure it's not as bad if u have a registry. Babies r us is much easier. And if there is no receipt they give u store credit no problem. Target usually needs to see your ID or they tell you sorry no can do. But I'm sure with registry item it's easier.

  • We're registered at Target, too. Their website has the terms of returning registry items: you have to have a gift receipt to return anything w/o a hassle, but if you don't have one you can make a "limited" number of returns by printing out your Gift Purchase Log.  Here's a link to their FAQ: Link!

I'm guessing people have run into trouble wanting to return a lot of things that didn't have gift receipts. I've just tried to make sure I want the things on my registry. But I'm a FTM, so what do I know about these things?! HA.

  • I just went to Target last week to get store credit for something on our registry.

Here are their rules: You can return up to $75 worth of items if you don't have a receipt with your drivers license. They scan the license to make sure you don't go over the $75 limit. If you have a registry, you can return up to $150 if you don't have a receipt. They will do unlimited returns IF you have the gift or original receipt.

So basically, make sure you get the gift receipts and if all else fails, take it to Wal-Mart if they sell it there. Wal-Mart will do unlimited returns.
