Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Up Every Hour! AHHHHH

So my little peanut is 6 months old.  We swaddled in the beginning, transitioned into the magic sleep suit and then about 2 weeks ago, she started fighting it and we transitioned out of it as per recommendation of the company.  She was sleeping in her crib.  Then She got sick... like diarrhea and projectile vomit sick.  So that always makes me nervous so I usually have her sleep with us in her pack n play so I can keep an eye on her.  Well Instead of having her in the pack n play, she was in bed with us for 2 nights.  She was doing better so I tried putting her back in her crib... she was up every hour all-night-long.  I spent more time in her room than in my own.  I was determined that she was giong to stay in her crib.  I would check on her and she would have rolled into a corner, or  be stuck with her feet inbetween the bars, etc.  So I would fix her and go back to bed. She would settle long enough for me to crawl back into bed and she would be awake again.  She made it that night until 4:30am, then we got up.  We both ended up falling asleep on the living room floor at 6 and slept for 2 hours there.

2nd night... (last night)  Same deal.  Up every hour or so.  I gave in because I'm sick and I need my sleep to get better.  She came into our room and slept in the pack n play but was still up every hour even though I was right there with her.  I put her back in her crib at 4 and let her cry a little trying to get her to cry herself to sleep.  I went in and she was so sweaty and upset.  It was horrible!

I did finally rock her to sleep and get her to sleep unti 6am.

Because of the early mornings and falling asleep on the floor until 8 or so, we havne't had a regular nap schedule.  Today I am going to try to "reboot" her by getting back to a normal nap schedule.  Any other suggestions? She use to be a pretty good sleeper waking only once or twice/ night.

Did I "Break" her by letting her sleep with us for a few nights when sick?

My husband and I are so frustrated.

Any helpful suggestions are welcomed please!

I understand your frustrations.  My DD has gone through these times as well.  When you are in them, they feel like they will never end, but they almost always do!  I bet it is just a phase.  Try working on her naps today, but I think if you are consistent, she will fall back into her old routine.

Last night, my 4 year old wouldn't go to sleep - went to bed at 7:30, didn't fall asleep until almost MIDNIGHT!  DH was laying in bed with him starting at 10.  DD#1 kept waking up crying, so she came into bed with me from 10:30-12am when I could move her back to her crib.  DD#2 slept so well all that time, then woke up for her normal wake up at 4:30am then came into bed with me to nurse and go back to sleep until 6:30.  I am exhausted!   But these nights are not the norm, and just when you get things figured out, they switch it up on you.

    Good luck!

i have no advice, just commiseration.  DS went through a 2 week period around 7 months where he was up every 45-90 minutes every.single.night.  i thought i was going to die.  now he's 8 months and his sleep is still all over the board.  last night, he was up 7-8 times.  the night before that, he was only up twice.  i have no idea what determines how well he sleeps at night since his naps were the same both days.  all i can say is that we strive for as much consistency and routine with naps and bedtime as we possibly can, and the rest is just us hoping for the best.  GL.
