Cleaning FP Kick and Play Piano Gym

I picked up the FP Kick and Play Piano Gym today at a garage sale for $5.  I'm super-pumped because it's in great condition and it was on our registry at a cost of nearly $50!

Since I bought it 2nd-hand, I would like to clean it.  The tag on the mat portion says that it is machine washable, so that's awesome.  What about all the plastic portions and toys?  What's the best way to wash/disinfect them?  Is warm water and mild soap enough?

Also, I've kind of "put off" picking up any stroller-type attachable toys (i.e. Lamaze type), even when they are like-new condition, because I'm unsure of cleaning.  Is there a safe way to clean these toys that have both plastic and cloth portions?

  • I wash toys that have fabric parts in the washing machine on delicate and air dry. Ift hey have squeekers in them then I wash in the sink or spray with a vinegar/water/essential oil mix, I also use this on hard surfaces in our house.

  • Good find on the play gym!  Water and soap is good enough and you can also use white vinegar for disinfection.  As far as 2nd hand soft toys, I'd try them out in a washing machine.  If they fall apart, they aren't meant to be.  Things with squeakers, chimes and jigglers may need to be hand washed or surface washed.

I've machine washed the Lamaze hanging toys in a delicates bag with no issues.  I will put them in a sweater bag for the wash and the hang to air dry.  I've seen lots of other people report washing theirs with no problems, but after a while the mirrors may dull and things like wings get floppy

  • Nice score! I'd wipe down the plastic parts with a Clorox wipe. The cloth part can go in the washing machine. I've even put mine through the dryer and it comes out fine.

I wash fabric/plastic stroller type toys in the washing machine all the time. Even if they were purchased new, by the time your kid chews on them for a while, they get grungy. Put in a delicates bag to wash, then air dry or if you forget and toss them in the dryer (like I usually do) they come out ok.
