Help me decide when

I am going on a two week vacation the second week of July. We are driving it a 17 hour drive and we are breaking it in two parts. My question is. Would you potty train before the trip or after

Re: Help me decide when

  • After.

You don't want your newly trained child telling you that he needs to pee every 30 minutes on the road. You don't want to rush around tourist destinations to find somewhere for your kid to pee RIGHT THEN.

These things you are going to have to deal with eventually but since you know you're going on vacation soon, I would wait until after.

As a person. Who is currently 1 week into it with a DD who is catching on, I would NOT want to go on vacation. Going to target is still a big deal. Each day gets better but I would never want to be on vacation.

  • That's why I want to wait. But I also wanted to get it over with. But I'm gonna wait. It will be less stressful.
  • You don't really "get over" potty training. It's one of those things that continue for months (and probably years)

  • Totally after.  Second week of July is coming up soon... IMO it wouldn't hurt to wait just a couple weeks later to start potty training.
  • After. Definitely after. DD1 has been potty trained for a year and is great at waiting until we can get to a bathroom and it is still extra stress to road trip with her. I would not have done it just a week or two after starting potty training.

  • After.  DD is potty trained, and I can tell you that at this point diapers are easier.  She doesn't even have accidents anymore, it's just that finding a potty is a nightmare particularly since they always wait till the last minute.  There are times, like yesterday I wished she was still in diapers.

to answer the question I would wait. We did the same thing last summer with my ds and it worked out really well.
