Re: Pregnant & TTC After a Preemie Check In 6/20/13

Had first cervical check since 28 weeks on Tuesday (38w1d) and I was 3cm dilated and 75% effaced. Have not felt anything resembling a contraction-well, maybe 1 or 2 yesterday. Lol! This is going to sound dumb, but I have to ask-if cervix was .6cm at 28 weeks, is that kind of the same thing as about 75% effaced since my cervix was already thinned out?

Also, OB said that since GD is diet controlled and induction is not something she would quickly jump to, she is going to let me go to 41 weeks (MFM said that she didn't think anyone would let me go past 40). I actually feel better that OB is not jumping the gun on induction at 40w, but also worried at the same time that it is different than what MFM said.

Congrats tlk and sdt for making it to term!

Still hanging in there.  MFM said my cervix is still over a 4 at my final check yesterday.  I see my OB today (and get my lovely GD test) so I will ask more questions but basically I think this is just my new normal.  I am about 5 weeks away from when I went into labor with DS, so it is starting to hit me that I could have a baby home as soon as 6 weeks and I need to find a balance between taking it easy and getting things ready if at all possible!

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

Thanks L & R, and good news Punky; I wish my doc would let me go to 41 weeks (since I am trying to VBAC), but they are too conservative.

I cannot believe I am term today, it is insane to think that I had a 7 week old at this point last time! I still feel great and somehow have not gained a pound in the past two weeks (that NEVER happened with Corri, lol), despite stuffing my face like...well, like I am growing another human! I have an OB appointment tomorrow and they are supposedly starting internals, which is good because I want to know if I am making any progress for VBAC purposes, but I am also nervous because I had one internal with Corri when I first went into labor and it was painful as all hell!

Glad to hear that things have calmed down and you didn't have another visit to the hospital. That's great that your cervix is still long and closed! Are they keeping you on modified bed rest?

I can totally relate with the weight gain and thinking back to how old DS was already at this point. With Noah, I had gained 15lbs. by the time he was born at 26 weeks. This whole pregnancy, I have only gained 20! Of course, I am sure it is because I have GD and have not indulged in things I would usually in. Smile Plus, by the time we reached due date with him in the NICU, we were nowhere near going home and I was extremely stressed out and frustrated. We ended up being there another month after!

How long are they letting you go for the VBAC? Good luck with your internal check and hoping that it is not painful for you!

LOL, I was seriously a beast by the time Corri arrived at 30 weeks, I was up 30lbs! I am up 30lbs total right now at 37 weeks, so I am doing way better. They will only let me go to 40 weeks even before forcing a repeat c section on me, so I need to go into labor before July 11th to be able to try!

Hi! Still here doing well. My NT scan was perfect. I start P17 the 1st wk in July. I'm still having an occasional hardening of my abdomen, but my MFM thinks that it's gas?? Hope that they're right!

I didn't pass my GD testing this week. I will be doing the 3 hr GD testing on Wednesday & I have a an ultrasound that same day. They're going to measure LO to make sure she's on the right track. Also, I will start seeing a new dr starting in July since my dr is relocating to another state. Luckily he recommend me to someone within the center who is willing to do a VBAC if I am approved. I will be 27 weeks on Sunday.

Back to restricted activity and just paying attention to what triggers contractions.   I'm also keeping a close eye out for any signs of my MP, because I started losing it at 32 weeks with DS, so depending on which doctor I asked (i.e, my 2 current ones would have checked my cervix) PTL could have been caught before it was too late.

Thanks! I have been having BH since like 17 weeks this time, and I think I felt a legit contraction last night, but it also could have just been a more painful BH. With Corri, I was only in actual labor for 2.5 hours before my c-section, so I can't really remember what contractions feel like.

Yay for term! So glad you're feeling good, wish I were in that boat with you! I've been nauseous again the last couple weeks, but that hasn't stopped me from eating. :)  I also haven't gained any weight, and it's been closer to 6 weeks for me. Heard it's relatively normal...not to mention I probably gained close to 20 lbs in 2 months...eek!  I've been crossing my fingers for you for your VBAC!

Hi! Still here doing well. My NT scan was perfect. I start P17 the 1st wk in July. I'm still having an occasional hardening of my abdomen, but my MFM thinks that it's gas?? Hope that they're right!

Good news on your scan and glad you're starting the shots soon.  Just an FYI, I let my OB know I was having quite a few BH when I was about 22 weeks or so, thinking no big deal. They told me that wasn't normal with my history, sent me to L&D, and I was having some contractions and my uterus was irritable.  Then they put me on Procardia.  Did MFM monitor you?

I didn't pass my GD testing this week. I will be doing the 3 hr GD testing on Wednesday & I have a an ultrasound that same day. They're going to measure LO to make sure she's on the right track. Also, I will start seeing a new dr starting in July since my dr is relocating to another state. Luckily he recommend me to someone within the center who is willing to do a VBAC if I am approved. I will be 27 weeks on Sunday.

Good luck with your 3 hour test!  Glad you were able to get a doc that may be able to do a VBAC!

Great news about your checkup! Don't know anything about the cervix question, but getting close! Very exciting!

Thanks, tlk! How are you doing?

Doing pretty well. Lots of BH/contractions now that my shots and Procardia are completed. Just nervous that I won't be able to tell if the contractions are real/doing anything because my cerclage won't be removed. I am really nervous about the cerclage ripping my cervix. Just trying to pay attention!

I delivered at 35 weeks due to pre e and my medical care has not been any different this time. I have been a lot more aware/ nervous off every little symptom that could possibly be a sign if pre e but my dr keeps telling me that my chances of getting it again are not any higher because I had it with dd.
