Mine is not. I have a BA in English, and I work in banking, with computers.

I'm just curious as to how common this is.

I have a BA in Secondary Education and History and I work for the federal courts so no, not the same field, although I do a lot of training type things for work which is related to education.  After college I did go back to school and got a paralegal certificate so that relates to the job I have now.

Nope.  I majored in psychology with a minor in math (I know, weird combo).  I work in benefits consulting.  I have an MBA also, if that helps.   

Truthfully, though, I do use my psych knowledge from time to time in various work situations....

Yep. I have a Bachelor's in Marketing and an MBA. I work in Marketing.

I have an undergrad and 2 Master's degrees. It's definitely in the area of one of my Master's, a tiny bit related to the other, and not at all to my undergrad degree.

BS in Sport Management... working as administrative assistant for a tire research and development office.  If you reeeeeeeally want to stretch it, I guess it could be considered in the same field.  I, however, don't think so.  And I'm reminded every time I get that student loan bill in the mail.....

Yep, I have a BBA in Accounting and will have my master's in Accounting as well as my CPA license (hopefully very shortly, one last test to go!) and I am an accountant.

Oh my H has a job in the federal courts also. His degree is in English.

My job relates to my advanced degree (law) but not really at all to my bachelor's degree in Finance.

Yes, my degree is in the same field as my career. However, I 'fell' back on it after taking a 6 yr hiatus and trying another field.

Somewhat.  My undergrad is in finance with a minor in management info systems, working on my MBA now.  I work in software product management for an investment manager, so I use a little of both of my undergrad degrees.  My MBA will be completely pointless for my current job, but I hope to advance or shift focus when I finish.

I'm surprised that my H doesn't complain about my barely-related Master's degree student loans. It's the only student loan we've got, and it's not small!

No, I have an A.A. in Fashion Merchandising Management and I work as a bookkeeper in a non-fashion related industry.  That being said, I am almost done with my B.S. in Accounting.

I received my BA in 1993 and never worked in that field but I'm directly using my Masters.

DH is actually in the same field as his BA and he's practically the only one I know in real life.

Indirectly. I'm a graphic designer, and have a College diploma in Advertising. I'm currently working as an e-learning developer. Parts of my job use my graphic design skills, but it's more or less 90% code/web skills which isn't really what my education was, but is indirectly related to it. I guess my marketing skills are used in e-learning somewhat as well.

Yes- JD and working in a lawyer job. DH also has a JD but he works in compliance and doesn't use his JD.

We both would be making more money if we had skipped law school and just stayed in the job we had out of college.

Yes.  I have a degree in Accounting and Finance.  I am a Comptroller for a school district.   DH has a degree in Business management and he is a district manager for a grocery store.

Mine is not but due to changes with our current broker firm I am likely going to be back in my business industry that both my degrees are in.  I have a BBA in Marketing and a general MBA but I am in the Petroleum industry.  I am looking for work in the Marketing/Public Relations field now.

Yes.  I have a BM in music education and I teach grades 1-5 music.  I also have my Masters in Piano Performance.  Sadly, I rarely have time to play any "real" music for the piano unless it is kid's stuff for school.  I'm doing what I want to do and teaching music but sometimes I'm a little sad that I'm not performing anymore.

I have a BS in biology, then went to nursing school and got my BSN, then went to graduate school and got my MSN.  I currently work as a Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner.  

So I could have skipped my biology degree and just got a nursing degree but I was young and trying to figure out what I wanted to do!
