Working Moms

advice

I currently work overnights full time. I asked my boss if i could reduce my work hours after my maternity leave for the first few weeks to get back into the groove of everything and was denied. I do have the option of being able to stay home while my hubby works for the first 6 months or so and then look for a new job. Has any one worked overnights while having a newborn? how did it work for you?i'm just on the fence on if i should stay at my job and go on my leave or just quit and stay at home with the baby.

Re: advice

  • Thanks for the advice. im not exactly sure what to do. My work is not maternity friendly what so ever and they are the same when it comes to kids which is suprising to me since its a very large healthcare facility that  i work at.

  • Take the time to stay home if you can! Mine didn't sleep the night until 4 months old. I'm taking the year off and it's hard but I love every minute! I worked midnights before and I could never do that with a newborn! But that is me! Good luck in your choice!

Every baby is different.  Mine didn't sleep through the night till he was a year old.  I SAH for nearly 3 years.  From my experience, working at night would not have been good for me at all with a newborn.
