Looking for daycare and nanny price ranges. Hourly? 30hrs a week?

People I know with a nanny in the city don't pay by the hour they pay weekly.  It is very expensive.  My friend was laid off and decided to be a stay at home dad for his 2 kids because it was more reasonable for him to do that instead of pay a daycare.
