It is SUPER trendy. Leighton is straight up boy's name that dropped out of the top 1,000 in 1947. The only reason why it is back on the map at all right now is because of a famous actress who was given a boy name. Super trendy.
I like it. I had a friend in high school by that name (female) so it doesn't seem trendy to me by association. I went to high school a loooong time ago.
Re: Opinion on possible girl name
It's really trendy sounding. I think in 10 years you are going to honestly wish you picked something else.
Would you consider the reverse-- Olivia Leighton?
Otherwise, I don't have an issue with the sound/ look/ flow of the name-- it's just the trendiness that kills me.
signed, lady with a name that was once really trendy (and now you can guess my age within 5 years from simply hearing my name).
