Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Still not rolling over

My DS is 6.5 months and isn't rolling over either way yet!  He can sit up unassisted and has for at least a month, so I know he's fairly strong/has good muscle control. His pedi didn't seem concerned at his 6 month check up because he is sitting, but I'm now wondering how this might stop him from crawling, etc.  I will check in with the pedi in another few weeks.  Just wanted to see if anyone else has a DC who isn't rolling/didn't roll until later and is moving around or crawling despite this.

Thanks!

  • The won't even think twice about it or consider it delayed till 9 months.

  • My DD still isn't rolling yet and she is 7 months today. She sits pretty good unassisted but does slump over once in awhile. We just moved her out of her bouncer for nighttime sleep due to reflux. She is moving around a lot in her sleep so I hope this will help.
  • how much tummy time/floor time does your LO get?  As long as he gets a good amount of that so he has to opportunity to try to roll, I think he's fine-- he'll do it when he wants.  Babies are all ahead/behind on different milestones, he'll get there.  For now, be glad he can't fall off the changing table yet!

  • My son still has not rolled from back to belly.  He can crawl backwards, pull himself up, walk when we hold his hands and with a walker, go from belly to sitting, and almost get to sitting from his back.  But he will NOT go from back to belly.  We call him our turtle.  Once he's on his back - he is stuck.  I don't anticipate something is wrong - they are all so different.
