DS is 20 months old and we are just putting together his big boy room. I am due with baby #2 in about 9 weeks and would love for him to be in his new room well before that time comes.
As we've been putting together his room we let him go in there and check it out and explain to him that this is all his (it's baseball themed which he loves!)
Any tips for making the actual transition? We're going away the weekend after next but plan to have his room setup by Sunday... I don't think we'll try to actually put him in bed until we get back from our trip unless he shows interest.
Re: Tips for transitioning toddler to a big kid bed
I agree to wait 'till you get back. Once you put him in there just be prepared for it to take a couple/few nights for him to be cool with it all.
Our DD fell asleep by her door the first few nights for her. She was 21 months. We'd go in later and scoop her up and put her into bed. After a few months she took to sleeping on the floor which we decided not to fight. I finally made her a floor pallet and that's where she slept for ages. I think the issue was we did the toddler bed for her (crib made into toddler bed) and she didn't like it. Once we got her a twin bed she slept in it great.
