Whos here and what are you doing?
We finally are back, bathed, ect from the family thing. It went fine, I guess. I couldn't say anything to her. I was told not to, since it causes more issues. I wanted so much to tell her that her son has outgrown his baby bucket. Ugh. Cade fecided tonight would be the night he starts solids. He just grabbed part of my strawberry shortcake and nommed. DH is excited.
Re: Roll Call!
I get everyone a Fisher Price Seahorse and a Sophie.
So, I'm sitting downstairs packing clothes for tomorrow's donation pickup and tending to the munchkins every few hours.

I am looking at her registry right now and she has a lot of odd stuff IMO. I guess everyone is different. She is asking for a crap ton of bath stuff. Anyways, I always get some stuff I know they NEED and then some clothes. I always try to get something other than NB size clothes and diapers, because of personal experience when I got so many of them and we no where near used them all.
I always get things they need, but I always tack on those two items. Both my kids love their Seahorse and Sophie. Most new moms don't know or think about them. The last shower I went to the mom registered for all this memory crap. Like 6 different kits for feet and handprints, ect. I ended up making her some receiving blankets and got her a seahorse and sophie and called it a day.
I'm here, watching a man-movie with H.
A had strawberry shortcake at about 5 months in much the same manner. I had no idea strawberries were on the no-no list and he was having trouble breathing later that night (unrelated). When we told the ER nurse what he had eaten that day, she lost her shiit on us. She told us it was probably an allergic reaction but it turned out to be RSV.
She also has a lot of toys for older babies, like a year old. Oh well.
I like to do a healthy baby basket: gripe water, gas drops, Tylenol, Vicks baby rub, saline drops, teething tablets, a thermometer, and sometimes a humidifier if I'm spending a bit more on a close friend or family member. No one usually appreciates it until the baby is like, 4 months old and gets the first cold. Then I get a message saying, "Oh my gosh, thank you so so so much for your gift! Saved my husband from a 2:00 am trip to the pharmacy for Tylenol/saline drops/thermometer/whatever!"
We don't follow allergy rules. The only thing we don't give before a certain age is WCM and honey. Studies have shown that many of these allergy "no-no's" are actually not preventing allergies. Just delaying when allergies happen. Also nobody in my family has food allergies.
We really didn't either, even though my husband has some food allergies. Our pedi told us to stay away from honey but everything else was fair game. Which was good because clearly I had no idea what was on the list.
With Rosie I tried to stick with what was said on Wholesomebabyfoods, but I gave up and gave her what we ate. She's fine. Cade had toast fingers tonight and loved playing with them. We'll be trying other foods soon.
Seahorse and aden anais loveys are my go to gifts!
This is where I thank my lucky stars DH works from home and has flexible hours. I would not do well without backup.
I agree with this. I kiss all over my baby's hands on the regular. Also, I'm jelly of your DH.
